Anyway, Saturday we finally got up, I got in a quick workout and Trey did some horn work, and then we decided to head out to the mall to spend the Macy's giftcards we'd each gotten recently. We made out like bandits - Trey got 2 shirts and 3 ties, and I got a great grey wool dress and boots, all for $181.36 (Disclaimer: With the exception of the $5.36 of our purchases that our giftcards did not cover, I have not, and will not, purchase anything at Macy's - the only reason we went shopping there we because other people had already spent the $. If Macy's ever decides to put the Marshall Field's logo back up, at least on the State Street store, I will reconsider).
Happy with our purchases, we head out to find the T-mobile store, as a new phone was on my birthday wish list. The bad news: I couldn't even get a phone I liked for less than $150 (time to find a new birthday present as I think it's ridiculous to spend that much on a phone). The good news: 2 doors down from the T-mobile store was a Lindt store!
Trey had to laugh at me because about a split second after we rounded the corner and saw the store, I'd already found my chocolate - Lindt Excellence 99% Cocoa. I started jumping up and down in the mall corridor and ran to the back corner of the store, where said chocolate was shelved. Oh, man. Talk about one of the best birthday surprises ever! The 85% will still have to do for my normal daily chocolate, because at Target you can get it for $2.19 a bar (3 for $5 if it's on sale) and at the Lindt store the 99% stuff was $3.29 a bar, but I can get it again! Other exciting store offerings included some 70% cocoa creations, the most interesting being the variety with chili and cherries. I've started seeing the normal Excellence with chili, but that's only 60%, so next time I'm at the Lindt store I'll have to pick up a chili/cherries bar.
After a very successful afternoon we stopped at home to change before heading out to Trey's concert and out afterwards for pizza. The program was great with some Corelli (love Corelli live!) and the Stravinsky Pulcinella Suite, which I'd never heard. Going out afterwards was fun - we sat with another horn player, who kept telling musician jokes all night. You'd think it would get old, but he found good places to stick them in.
Ok, that's good for now. I'll post more tomorrow about the rest of the weekend. :-)

happy birthday, viki!
sounds like a fabulous weekend! and mmmmm to the chocolate.
I made chocolates this weekend. Well, I didn't make the chocolate itself, but I did use fine chocolate couvature to make chocolate candies for Alvin. Apparently the raspberry filled were a HIT.
Happy Birthday! (today or coming up??)
I agree with you on the cell phone thing. grrr. When I had to buy one over the summer it cost $150 for the CHEAPEST piece of crap there. Don't even think about anything "nice" or "cute" or "fun" or "fabulous"....Yet when it was time to renew my contract just 4 months later - a cute fun phone for FREE.
Happy Birthday Viki!
Your purchases at Macy's sound great. BTW, I agree with the Marshall's sign up downtown!
Yummy Chocolate!!
Happy Birthday!
Who is Marshall?
Getting excited about Lindt chocolates... yeah... :) :) :)
Just like me freaking out about finding diet Dr. Pepper for € 1 a can.
I don't really like 99%, it's too much for me, but I love all the variations that they have (esp. the raspberry one). Well, how many days of lent left? 34. Crap.
we ate lindt this weekend and i thought of you!! :)
happy happy birthday!
Happy Birthday... I love the pic. Sounds like you had a fun weekend. That chocolate with chili/cherries sounds interesting.
Happy Birthday!
The chili in chocolate sounds nasty at first, but it's acutally pretty good :).
you and Willie look adorable :) and you look stunning in my pants ;) he he he
She was totally freaking out over the 99% cocoa. Viki was standing in the hallway at the mall, not even in the store, and noticed it on the shelf in the back corner, and started acting like she was at a rock concert!
At least I think that's how people act at them...I've never been to one.
