Something I learned this morning

I had a thought as I was walking in to work this morning...First things first - I always avoid stepping on any kind of metal when it's snowy or rainy out (metal grates, metal supports in the walk along the river, etc.), as the metal gets really slippery and I have come very close to wiping out on more than one occasion.

Something new I learned today, however, with regards to walking on the snow when the sidewalks aren't completely clear, is that it's much easier to walk on the part of the sidewalk that has a little bit of snow on it than it is to walk on the part of the sidewalk that's slushy. I was having some scary moments walking on the part of the sidewalk where others had walked prior to me, but kept on trucking. I made my discovery when I went to pass up someone who was walking slower than I was, and after that, it was much smoother until I got to work....well, until I got to the Michigan Ave. bridge. Not fun walking across a bridge that's a) fairly slippery and b) in a very windy spot!

So, there's my Tuesday thoughts. I'll write a little bit about the weekend and yesterday later on this week...

I agree walking on snow is better than the slush! A) you don't slip and B) your shoes and pants hem don't get as nasty. :)

Martha is correct... I hate when my pants get wet from slushy snow. Just like I prefer to walk on the grass than the driveway. More traction = less likely to fall.

I'm glad you learned the easy way "i.e. not the I fell on my tushy way". Walking in the snow does take a certain finesse!
