So, what do you do when you know someone is probably going to get canned? How do you act toward that person?
I think FFG is on her way out – unless someone around here decides to take pity on her, it’ll just be a matter of when. This makes me not want to be nice to her and be nice to her at the same time. I mean, I feel bad for her and compassionate toward her, but coming at it from a different way, if she’s not bright enough to even file things correctly how to I respond with anything but contempt?
There was another employee here who was let go a few weeks ago. It was a situation that I knew much of the background behind, and I found that in that case the employee really needed to be let go as well but was completely clueless about it (I think he actually had ADD and didn’t know it, based on the way he generally behaved – a lot of the reason he was let go, in my opinion, stemmed from the fact that he couldn’t focus unless he was designing, and that other tasks took him far too long to complete). I found that when I figured out they were going to let him go, I started distancing myself quite a bit, and began to feel bad about it. What else could I have done, though?
So, there are my Monday musings – sorry if it’s depressing, but today’s just sort of a downer day, or it feels that way around here.

Ugh, that's a tough situation. I know the feeling, as I had to deal with that several times when I was at the Arc. I guess the best advice I can give is to keep your distance since you're not immediately involved in the situation.
And, you did your part to try to help FFG be a responsible employee, which is more than many people would do.
i agree. you did everything you could. no reason to be rude to anyone, but i see no reason to further a relationship with her either.
It's a tough situation to be in, but even worse for the person who has to deliver the news to the victim. So be glad you don't have to the actual 'terminating'.

Don't worry, her boyfriend is still lurking around Folk Hall and doesn't appear to be getting any more intelligent so I'm sure I'll have more stories soon!
