Tooting my own horn

So, some fun stuff happened this morning at church...I cantored at both 10:30 and noon, and I think this was the first time the whole choir had heard me sing (the last time I did 10:30 cantoring, they had the week off because it was right after the choir director's wedding). Well, before the service we were running through one of the communion hymns, which the director wanted me to intone before everyone else came in. One of the guys in the group (one of the three really loud, really flat people who unfortunately doesn't realize he's flat all of the time) seemed shocked at how good it sounded and was raving about me. :-)

After the first service, I popped back upstairs to the choir loft to plug my CCC concerts next weekend. The director's eyes got all wide because of the rep we're singing, but the same guy who was raving to me earlier heard me say that I sang "with a group called the Chicago Chamber Choir" again looked shocked and said, "Really, you sing with them? They're like professionals!" This made me feel like a celebrity.

Really, I hope this means that now people will listen to me when I make constructive comments during warm-up rehearsals (like this morning when I pointed out: do you know you're singing harmony there? It's supposed to be in unison)!

Ok, gotta stop because it's time for Desperate Housewives. :-)

That's awesome! Hopefully you're right that people will realize you know what you're talking about and actually listen to your advice!
