Sorry not to have posted for a few days, and thanks to everyone for weighing in on my last post. Like Martha, I'm still mad about it over a week later, but at least if there's a next time I won't feel bad being rude!
Here are some random thoughts and life updates on the past week or so:
Saturday was spent working on vacation stuff, among other things. I now have our hotel & opera tickets booked for Vienna. Tonight or tomorrow night I will be booking our last night in Frankfurt & our second to last night in Munich, and as soon as I hear from my family in Marktl I'll book our 2-3 nights in Salzburg. We're either going Vienna-Salzburg-Marktl, or Vienna-Marktl-Salzburg based on what's convenient for them. Other than that, Trey needs to do a bit more research on rail passes (we've discovered we probably won't need to rent a car at all - hooray for good public transportation!), and then we really don't have to do much more before we go over there.
All of my work on Saturday was made much more pleasant because I've recently acquired a used laptop. It doesn't have much in terms of the bells & whistles and it's in desperate need of a new battery, but it works for what I need it to work for and the price was right. It also has a wireless card already which means I can sit on my couch to work rather than in my computer room. This means that my cats can cuddle up with me, too. Sepp was very cute all morning, and Willie hung out with me in the afternoon. :-)
I'm also very excited about this Hotels.com promotion on the stay 10 nights, get one free. Their rates are better than any of the other travel sites' and they're the same as I'm finding on the actual hotel websites. If I book the rest of our Europe trip through them, it'll mean that I've got a free night to use whenever!
Last Thursday night there was a tasting a Trey's wine store. Since he wasn't working and I didn't have rehearsal for once, we went and invited some friends. We got to try somewhere between 35 & 40 wines, and a bunch of craft beers, too. Even better, the next day Trey got to bring some leftovers home - some of those bigger reds open up so nicely by the 2nd day!
The above reminded us to look at our cellar list and see what we could pull. Turns out that we've got about 3-4 bottles from Italy, and from Campagnia no less, so we're going to have a dinner party next month and do some Neapolitan style cooking. This is making me very excited!
My book club met last night for the first time in a couple of months. No one really remembered the book we were reading, partly because it'd been so long and partly because no one really cared for it, but we had a good time anyway. We sat in one of the Art Institute gardens and drank wine for a bit, which is the kind of relaxing thing I do not often allow myself on a week night. Ahh...
Ok, enough for now - have a great week all!

Your trip sounds like it is coming together nicely and I want to come! :)
Do your cats ever try to get under the laptop because it is warm? Min does that all the time, I will be sitting indian style and she tries to get on my lap under the laptop. I try to explain that it doesn't work so well with a kitten under it, but she insists that is where she should be.
you're so sophisticated - a wine tasting and a book club! WOW! :) i'm being serious, not sarcastic.
that sounds like my kind book club. ha!
Salzburg is awesome - I really enjoyed spending time there - I can't wait to hear about your trip!
the wine tasting sounds great - and dinner parties are so much fun - your life rocks!
Willie does try to get on to the laptop, which is why I had it on a tv tray when he was around. Siggy's even worse - fortunately he was off sleeping somewhere. :-)
I'm glad you all think my life rocks - this is just the bit of fun and relaxation I'm getting in before things get really crazy. I guess the dinner parties & wine tastings do happen occasionally throughout the year, but it's not like it happens every weekend!
You sound busy but happy. :) That's the way we should all be. :)
Wine tasting sounds fabulous. I usually just drink a wine if I like it. :)
If you need anything for the train info, I can help you out, just drop me an email.
