So, I love working downtown, I really do. For the most part I also think Oprah is great. Put the two together, however, and sometimes it doesn't work out so well.
Next week Oprah is taping her 24th season opener starting at 5pm in the street directly outside of my building. They're going to let the audience in starting at noon, which means for the non-preferred areas, people are going to camp out overnight. Check out the map - I work in the 401 Building on the right-hand side of it. Do you know what a pain in the [blank] getting in and out of work is going to be that day? And so much for the lunchtime walk.
The city is saying that all of the pedestrian areas on Michigan Avenue will be clear. Yeah, I'm sure that's going to work very well. I'll keep y'all posted...

What a pain! It looks like the stage will be in the middle of the street right where the bridge begins and that there will be be some kind of perimiter around where the audience will be. Hopefully they will leave enough space for the people that have to enter and leave the building. If you do take your walk, think of the great people watching - I expect a full report.
Maybe you'll be able to see the famous O from your office window. :-)
You could always watch the shooting, since you will be right there anyway. :)
I hope it goes better than expected!
You're lucky. You could've been working in Hubbard street and have all the portapotties infront of the building. :)
Holy crap that's gonna be a pain! But I can't wait to hear the stories of all the fantastic things you will be blessed to witness!!
Katrin cracks me up!
Update on Tuesday - taping starts at 5pm, but our office is actually going to close at 3. We're being required to be out of the building no later than 4.
Damn. I was hoping you could record it and show it early. :P I'm sure that's why they're kicking you out! :)
