This is going to be kind of random, but here goes...I've been semi-addicted to country music lately. We have one country station in Chicago, which has been playing on my office radio almost every day for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I don't know why, but just can't get enough of the stuff. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that a few weeks ago when we were painting the living room, "Walk the Line" was on one of the movie channels.
Speaking of, last week we actually rented the movie because Trey had never seen it, and now I have Johnny Cash songs stuck in my head. I think "Folsom Prison Blues" is going to become my favorite song. It inspired me to create a Johnny Cash station on my Pandora today, too. :-)
Finally, I think that by far the weirdest thing about listening to US 99, the country station, is that they play the national anthem every day at noon. Do other radio stations do this? I've never heard it before...

Yes, other stations do the daily national anthem. I've heard some that do it daily at noon, others at 7 or 8 AM.
I didn't know radio stations played the national anthem either...
Of all the people in this world who listen country music, you are by far one of the last people I would think of. Now we have yet another dimension to bond on!
It is VERY common for the anthem to be played daily. I most often hear it in the 7 to 8 am timeslot, like Martha said. It is also common to "start a new broadcast day" by playing the anthem at midnight.
Have you heard the new Zac Brown Band CD? I am addicted to it right now!
I agree with JNoble but I LOVE that you're listening to it! doesn't it make you feel good? the lyrics are always cheery, even the sad songs are relateable
let me know if you want some country muscic for your ipod! we've got lots of it here... and maybe it'll help make up for the slowness of your computer!
Its about time you crossed over to the good side. You guys have been making fun of me for so long that I listen to country
I am pretty much anti-country most of the time. There are very few songs I will listen to. Johnny Cash is definitely an exception. I just think he has the manliest of voices. He sounds like a REAL cowboy when he sings.
And the national anthem thing is new to me. I've never heard a station do that.
We don't play the national anthem, but I think that has a different standing in Austria.
I like country, too. Although you don't get such radio stations here. Also must agree with Karen, I feel happier after listening to it.
