I really do appreciate it when people realize that my name is not spelled V-i-C-t-o-r-i-a, but I always have to shake my head and laugh when someone spells it V-i-C-K-t-o-r-i-a. Come on, that just looks stupid.
I'm still alive, just busy. Lots of rehearsals & concerts, which have gone well for the most part. Have I mentioned that I love Eric Whitacre? If you ever have the opportunity to hear any of his music, do it. Saturday with Wicker Park his "Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine" was on the program, and for the CCC concerts Friday & Sunday we did "Water Night." It looks like both can be heard on his website (http://www.ericwhitacre.com/) so take a look - they're under the Choral music section. All of those cluster chords in the "Water Night" just sound so cool!
Other than that, here's what's going on in Chicago:
-I took a mental health day on Friday and got my house cleaned up a little so no more gross bathrooms!
-The International Olympic Committee has been in town, and it's neat to see the city excited and with the Candidate City banners up all over even though I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole thing. If banners & flags are still up tomorrow I'll try to take some pictures and post them.
-We had a sleet & snow storm on Sunday, APRIL 5, and I had to drive through it to get home from Rockford. It never got really bad, but there were about 10 or 15 minutes during which time my grip on the steering wheel was extra tight.
I've actually gotten caught up on all of your blogs as of today, but have only had the chance to comment on Karen's. With regards to Sarah's post, is anyone up for "Girls dump the kids on the husbands and road trip to Chicago" weekend? The only weekends that don't really work for me are Mother's Day weekend, and the first weekend in June. :-)
Happy Tuesday!

See I hate it when people try to spell my last name Nobel. I understand...it is a famous world prize...but come on I clearly said my name was Noble. I didn't pronouce it No-bell.
I think you hit a nerve I never knew existed.
Hmmm dump the kids road trip. Now that could be total fun! :-) Oh, and probably big trouble too. ;-) I'll have to look at my crazy calendar.
Can't wait to see what the pics look like. The news reports here are so few and blips that I'm sure you get reports every day.
a mental health day spent on cleaning!? Viki viki...
I wish I was there to see all of the flags and banners. :)
No one has ever really spelled my name wrong. I guess thats what happens when you have the most common name in the world. :)
I'd have to wait to do a weekend like that until after school lets out in June.
And I'm with Karen, cleaning? I'd be laying around doing nothing! Or getting a pedicure! :)
In defense of myself...
Sorry, but I get stressed out when a) the house gets too dirty and b) I don't have time to clean it. This past weekend I barely had time to think, and this coming weekend I do have most of the day Saturday free, but you have to do laundry and grocery shop some time. The one (sometimes two) night a week I'm home, I don't get back until almost 7, and by then there are usually smaller things I need to take care of and I don't actually sit down to have dinner until about 9:30 so cleaning is out then.
Certain things like cleaning bathrooms I won't leave to Trey because my standards of bathroom cleanliness are higher, plus he's not home much either. I'm ready to cough up $50 or so every couple of weeks for someone to come spend a couple of hours cleaning my bathrooms and scrubing down the kitchen, but that means a) I'd have to find someone, and b) I'd have to trust him/her enough to leave him/her alone in my apartment almost every time s/he came over. It's not like we have anything terribly valuable around the house, but I'm still not comfortable with a stranger alone in my house.
:-)
I hear you on cleaning! With my recent work schedule my home got a little....cluttered. I spent one Saturday doing deep (ok, deeper than usual - in addition to wiping down, also vacuuming, mopping, etc) cleaning and after that, it's just amazing! It's like I got the energy to do things just from having a much cleaner house.
I'm so with you on that one!
