Weekend in review

This weekend went by way too fast, but it ends up book club is canceled tonight, so hopefully that'll help me catch up a little. Here's what transpired...

Friday night I got home and went straight to getting my stuff together for Saturday and Sunday while waiting for Trey to come home from teaching a lesson after work. As soon as he was back, we drove over to Big Bowl, used up some gift certificates and had a great dinner without spending much. Really, had we not gotten fancy martinis it would've been free, but you just have to treat yourself sometimes. My lemongrass martini was fantastic!

Saturday morning I slept in a little & got in a bit of relaxation before hitting the treadmill and then heading out for a CCC rehearsal & outreach concert in Hyde Park. I always love driving down to Hyde Park nowadays because I feel like I'm in the president's hood. :-)

After that it back north to downtown to meet Trey for a quick dinner before we saw our last opera of the year - Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart. It was wonderful - very funny, incredibly well done both musically and from a humor/acting standpoint - and a nice way to end the season on humorous note. Not only was it our final opera of the year, it was the very last performance of the Lyric's 2008-2009 season. Next year we're switching to a Saturday package (6 Saturdays) because weeknights are no longer doable, and we decided that Saturday felt a lot more relaxed, which made us glad to have had to do that.

Driving home Saturday night was much better than anticipated - the sleet/snow mix we were supposed to be getting by then was still only rain so the roads weren't yet slick. People were still driving like idiots though - a bunch of folks were doing 55 & 60 in the left lane, which pissed off the people who wanted to go faster and had them weaving in and out of traffic and doing dumb stuff. I decided that I didn't want to deal with other stupid people and got off the expressway a few exits earlier.

Sunday was spent driving to church in the snow (yes, snow), then a CCC concert, and back home for dinner and a quick visit from Mark & Karen. They brought us the most recent ultrasound pictures of baby Rill, which is now about the size of an eggplant. Fortunately, they gave us enough warning for us to get the living room straightened up and for me to move their shower gift. :-)

Monday has been spent recovering, and being thankful that I'll have a free evening tonight. Have a great week all!

I've never heard of Big Bowl. It sounds like a mongolian bbq. Or a noodle store. I like noodle stores. :)

And martinis sound so shiek. I'm not that cool though.
