Friday news update

So, I'm pretty proud of myself for having posted three times now in one week. Hopefully this means that I'm back on track. Now, on to a couple of news items for today:

1. In case you haven't already heard, G-Rod is actually no longer G-Rod, just Rod. Illinois' new governor is Pat Quinn. They made the announcement right around 4:52pm, and when I checked our company's website at 5:03pm, the new gov's name was already up. I bet it was up at 4:53, I just hadn't checked yet.

2. I saw a fun blurb in the Redeye yesterday, called "Quit yer whinin', D.C." Flip to page 8 in the link, it's in the bottom left-hand corner. I got a nice chuckle out of it. :-)

Have a great weekend!

(disclaimer: I don't know what kind of weather DC actually got. It does mention ice though.)
2) a)that is funny. But ironically enough, Obama works from home now. No fair for him to make those comments. Plus he has drivers. He's not the one dealing with it anymore.
b)as I said on Karen's page, all it takes is one cocky idiot to do a lot of damage. There are a lot of cocky idiots out there. I'd rather the wimps stay out of the way so there are fewer obstacles for those who don't have a choice, and for those cocky idiots.
c) shutting down for that little snow is wimpy. Shutting down for ice actually is not. You can't do anything except slide on ice.

I like that the daughter called out Washington DC for being whimpy!

Thank goodness Illinois has a new governer! Lets hope this one waits to go to jail until after he retires. ;)

having lived in the DC area for many years, I will totally agree that it's ridiculous how everything shuts down for the tiniest bit of weather. I lost many days of high school for less than an inch of snow. And now I live in Cleveland. haha!

...on the other hand, DC is (obviously) full of federal employees. They look for any excuse to take a day off!
y'all are just jealous. ;)
