So, concerts this weekend went well, despite bad weather on Saturday and several of us missing our call time. I was about 20 minutes late, and in my own defense I did check the traffic reports before I left the house. I left myself and hour and 15 minutes to do a 50 minute drive. It took my mom, grandparents and Trey a bit longer than that even. The Kennedy, which in great traffic is 20 minutes from O'Hare to downtown and is usually 25 minutes when it's decent, jumped from 30 minutes just before I got on it, to 55 by the time I was halfway through. At least traffic wasn't like Tuesday night - my train going back out was 45 minutes late, but the Kennedy going out to O'Hare was 5 hours at one point!
Ok, enough complaining about traffic - now I'll complain about the cold. Sunday morning when I left for church it was -5 with a -40 wind chill. This morning as I was walking to work (yes, I did my 20-minute walk because my train was 8 minutes late getting in and the wait for the bus would've ended making me late to work) it was -4. This is December! It's not supposed to be like this until later in January! Tomorrow it'll be warmer, but we're supposed to get a foot of snow. Woo-hoo! So far in December we've had 18 inches - the normal snowfall by this time is 7 inches. Heaven help us.
On the bright side, as I mentioned concerts did go well this weekend. I love singing with Chicago Chamber Choir. Music Box gigs for me start tonight - that's the caroling before they show the movies and then doing the sing-a-long with Santa. Always a fantastic time and lots of fun. Tomorrow and Wednesday I've taken off of work to do do it, which means that I can sleep in a little bit. Hooray! X-mas Eve and Day I'm doing the soprano recits from the Christmas section of the Messiah in church, too.
This time of year ends up being so exhausting, but it's so worth it doing all of the singing - there are very few things that do as much good for my soul as singing does. :-)
I may not write again until the weekend - so everyone have safe travels, a wonderful holiday, and much love from me!

Merry Christmas!!
I'm glad you have plenty of opportunities to sing. It makes me happy to hear you talk of it!
So we are totally up for a bad winter and sounds like it is happening in Chicago!
Merry Christmas!!
I'm glad you are able to do that "thing" that brings so much joy to your soul. :)
merry christmas!
Look for certain coke products (and I'm assuming Pepsi is following suit in the same cities) for Sprite Green and 50 calorie Odwalla products. Both odwalla and sprite green are 50 calorie products sweetened with a stevia-based product, fruit juice, and evaporated cane juice. Coke is releasing, initially, only in Chicago and New York and I'm crazy curious about how they taste (beings they did add some sugar makes me think it's not as tasteless as they claimed it would be).
Ok - I'll keep an eye out for them. Maybe I'll do a side-by-side tasting. :-)
