Grossed out

So, I went to the grocery store over lunch today, and I'm standing in line waiting to pay and see a woman eating...she had a few bags of chicken from the "Grab n' Go" section and was standing in the checkout line eating a drumstick. To make matters worse, she did not have a napkin, and was managing to drop bits of chicken all over the place...like, letting the bits fly all over the place.

I'm sure you're all picturing some poorly dressed, messy street-person type. Not so - she was professionally dressed and very tidy aside from her hands, which held the remnants of the drumstick.

What do you do when witnessing something like this? I really wanted to say something, but I was starting to feel nautious as it was. It was shocking.

I don't know how to react to this story. It sounds pretty gross. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing this kind of thing before. It's so crazy!

I get annoyed when people go through the grocery eating food before they pay for it. I don't see it every time, but I do see it regularly enough. Can't they wait 3 more minutes? How is that not stealing?
Although, I can see how a nice, warm, roasted chicken leg can seem enticing. (actually, not really THAT enticing)
But, again, can't you wait 3 more minutes?
Perhaps she is pregnant? You couldn't tell? It was a craving?

I'm with Martha--wait 5 minutes til you leave the store. Then she could have found a nice bench/table or her car to sit in..

Perhaps you should have offered her a napkin or a kleenex?

That's just awful. I mean really, if you are THAT hungry that you absolutely can't make it out of the store before eating something, couldn't you at least choose something less messy? How about some crackers?

I don't know what a drumstick is - is a leg of a roast chicken? If so, then I find it gross. :) I often ask myself why some people can't wait until they get somewhere convenient to have their messy snacks. Oh well... let them bury their faces in a giant sandwich while standing in a overfull bus.
