Sorry for the lack of posting lately - things have just been insanely busy in all aspects of life. I've done pretty well keeping up with reading all of your blogs, but haven't posted much in response. Here's what's been going on...
Weekend of August 23 & 24 - obviously we went to Miller Park. The best part was this kick-ass mullet we saw on a lady, one that www.mulletsgalore.com would call a "Femullet." This is a reminder to myself to post said picture.
Labor Day Weekend - Cleveland was a good time. I caught up with a few friends I hadn't seen since last year, had a cigar & a bunch of good beer, finally figured out how wonderful cruise control is (!), and did not get a speeding ticket despite the many Ohio state troopers I saw on my way back out of the state. As I figure Tony never reads this, I should note that there were also several long discussions with various individuals about what an idiot he is being with regards to the fabulous girl in Cleveland the rest of his siblings (birth and in-laws) would like for a SIL.
German Day Weekend - What can I say? I sang the anthems Friday night (I still get big cheers for popping the high B-flat on "Free") and then worked at the bar until closing, had a cigar, helped clean up, and went home smelling like beer. Saturday I was in charge of the Kindergruppe for the parade in the afternoon, then worked at the bar from 3:30 until we closed, had a cigar, helped clean up, and went home smelling like beer. Sunday morning I sang 2 church services, went to the fest and sang, danced, then worked the bar, helped clean up and went home smelling like beer (not as much, though, as Sunday was slower).
I always love German Day weekend - I can remember as a kid I always thought it would be fun to work at the bar, something that was confirmed last year. This year was different, however, as our club had both a food tent and a bar in a busier location, which meant that instead of going through 80 barrels of beer Saturday like last year (a record for the bar we worked), we went through over 160 barrels on Saturday. IN-SANE! We could not pour beer fast enough for those people.
I got a nice ego boost, too - it was warmer Saturday, so I was wearing a tank top and skinny jeans. We were technically told not to wear tank tops/sleeveless tops, but since we weren't in the kitchen it wasn't a health department requirement so I did anyway. My rationale was that I'd have cleavage that way (and my arms are nicely toned to boot) which would attract the attention of the male clientele that would normally pass by our bar (the first most people hit) but rather stop and get a drink. All of the bars have the same beer, but those who don't know that will often pass by the first one, go looking at the second and third, and then get their drink at the 3rd because they don't want to walk back through the crowd. Well, it worked - hey, I don't mind whoring myself out a little if it's going to raise as much money as we did! Plus, I was told I was gorgeous by a number of people, and some of them were actually sober!
Ok, I think that's enough for now. More about recent events by next week - hope everyone is doing well and has a wonderful weekend!
