My rockstar life

Well, how about "my rockstar night" instead?

The gig Friday night was a good time...I got to the venue as soon as I could after work, which was about 5:30, for sound checking and stuff. They cut the choir loose around 6:30, which gave us 2 hours to kill before the gig. They gave us some super all-access type of passes to wear so we wouldn't have issues getting back in after our search for some dinner.

When we got got back from Subway (yeah, not to glamorous, but healthy and therefore helping us all to remain skinny, something that all rockstars seem to be) we had some beer and snacks in the green room for us. How exciting is that? Beer in the green room? Rockstar!

The show was at the Park West, a more intimate theater in Lincoln Park. I still holds quite a crowd, and was sold out! For the first tune it was just the band, so the band announced us before the second one and we went out to the sound of the crowd cheering for us. After that tune the audience started yelling that we weren't loud enough. He he. :-)

All in all the concert went well, the crowd dug it, and we all had a blast. The guys in the band are so talented it's ridiculous - I cannot wait to listen to the CD that one of the lead singers handed out to us all. I had an earplug dilemma, too - on Wednesday night at the rehearsal we really needed earplugs, but Friday wasn't as loud. Only problem was, without earplugs I couldn't hear myself (I guess I wasn't enough of a rockstar to have my own mic and speaker). I ended up putting them back in...singing with earplugs is so bizarre!

Afterwards we went out to a wine bar (private room reserved), and I actually went. Unfortunately, those of us in the choir that went out got there way before the band did, so I could only stay for another 20 minutes or so after most of them got there (this rockstar did not want to spend 1/2 of what she made on gig in gas and parking so she took the train to work as she normally does...the last one out leaves downtown at 12:30, so she had to leave the bar around 12:20).

I guess that's about it - it was a blast and it would be very cool to do something like this again! Also, I think my new favorite songs are Fat-Bottomed Girls and a relatively obscure tune called 39.

That's all for now - hope everyone's having a great Monday!

wahoo! I want an autographed copy of the evening's CD. You know, so in 15 years I can sell it on Ebay for 2.3 trillion dollars. Then I'll retire. Ha! And beat Karen to retirement! ;)

HA! Martha's comment is funny.

The life of a rockstar sounds glamorous! Glad to hear you had a blast.

How come orchestras never have beer in the green room? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I tend to not play as well after alcohol is consumed.

It's ok though - orchestra folks make up for it after the gig!

Wow... can't wait to hear this CD and I too would love a signed copy. Martha's got the right idea! Then again you already are a rockstar here in the Williams' house with your Lulliby CD!
