Good music

I'll post about the weekend later today or tomorrow, but I just want to reflect on my iPod. I normally have my it on shuffle because I rarely have a taste for specific music during my commute, and during my workday I've found that I'll focus too much on the music if I select a particular album. Having the iPod on shuffle allows me to not have to make up my mind and actually concentrate more on my work, except for now, when I'm blogging instead.

Now, my iPod has some kind of amazing instinct when it comes to shuffling. This kind of thing happens a lot, but here are two examples from within the past week...

Last week, the one day that it actually wasn't too crappy and cold out (it was still cold but the wind chill was around 22 instead of 8), the train was pulling into the station and I was thinking that it was going to be a rather decent walk to work, and that I still love working downtown despite the long commute, crappy weather during the winter, etc. Well, just as I was thinking those thoughts, I got a rendition of "My Kind of Town, Chicago" by Frank Sinatra.

This morning it is raining, and wouldn't you know it, but I stepped out of the train station and got "Raindrops keep falling on my head." It's amazing that with almost 5,000 tracks on the iPod, this sort of thing happens regularly.

Have a great Monday! :-)

That is crazy! Maybe there's something more to the ipod...it's reading your brain waves.....and microsoft is taking the knowledge and using it in their plan to take over the world! We should all walk around with foil on our heads to inhibit the stealing of knowledge (actually, we shouldn't as that actually helped amplify them. I just want to see everyone walking down the road in foil hats...) That is my conspiracy theory. :)

Oh that is scary if it is reading your brain waves! :-) Funny how when you're in the mood for some type of music you get exactly that. 5000 tracks! WOW!

That is totally wacky! But a fun story! :) I wish I could wear my IPod at work! I don't think that would work well with kids though....

For Martha - actually, your conspiracy theory in regards to iPod should be directed at Apple. Microsoft needs their own for entirely different reasons.

For Lisa - I don't actually wear the iPod at work, just on my walk to and from my building, which accounts for a good 40 minutes of my day, and sometimes on the train, which is another hour and a half or so...

There's already conspiracy theories that the govt is tapping into your brain waves, and that we should wear foil hats to keep them from "reading" ours. Then I saw a Harvard (or one of those Ivy leaguers) did research on it and found that the foil hats actually increased reception of waves (probably someone's cell phone nearby, really).

Jen doesn't have an iPod? And I thought *I* was behind on the times (old TV, vcr, etc). Then again, I only got mine b/c my dad bought a new computer a couple years ago, got an ipod and after trying it out for himself, gave it to me when I asked if he actually used it....I use it for travel, and rarely any other time (I have used it at work when a lot of people are out of the office anyway).

This is really funny. Reminds me a bit of the "Your Life Soundtrack"-Meme I did last year or so. You put the songs on shuffle and for each important point of your life your write down the title. Many of them were pretty accurate e.g. "Shut Up" by the Black Eyed Peas for Breaking up or "Along for the ride" by Vanessa Carlton for Driving.

Chicago is on my "Must See" list. A friend of ours has been there a few times and says it is his favorite city, right after Sydney.
