Home on a Saturday night...with the sunflowers

So, tonight Trey's got a show, and as dinner at Oma's got shifted making my going not really doable (she made it earlier, which really didn't work, plus the whole reason I was going over was to see the NC folks, who are running quite late and unlikely to get in before 10) I've got the place all to myself. Well, the boys and I have the place all to ourselves.

I get the impression that most people would be sad staying home by themselves, especially on a Saturday night, but being the introvert that I am I'm really not upset in the least. Note: I must say that as I've been on my own so much lately, I am actually starting to get bored with myself. I take this as a good sign, and one that upcoming social engagements will be more looked forward to than they normally are. In any case, I'm thinking I'll spend some time tonight straightening up, I'll probably sing for a little while, and then I'll pop open a bottle of wine. Not a bad night, really, and quite relaxing after a couple of weeks that have been really nuts.

Today has been a great day for relaxation in general, too. Trey smoked a big pork loin in the Weber (it's tasty!) and we spent a fair amount of time watching the birds come to visit the feeders. I also discovered today that the little birdhouse Trey was given by some folks nearby who were moving out and couldn't take it with them has some baby birds in it! We have ourselves a really nice spot. :-)

Speaking of our great little spot, I just went out and took some pictures. I think one of my favorite things about the bird feeders are the rogue sunflowers that are growing as a result of being dropped by the birds. Here are some of the earliest, which have taken over the fern pot and should bloom soon...

...and here are a couple in the ground that will open even sooner...

...and here's the patch that's growing under the tube feeder, which is filled exclusively with sunflower seeds...

Trey thinks it's too late in the year for this patch to grow much, but I'm optimistic. If you look closely in that picture, you can see the little green birdhouse that's currently housing the baby birds. :-)

Have a great weekend all!

We both had "exciting" Saturday nights - my friend and I had ourselves a pizza party in the fitness room watching CABLE TV!
But I'm like you. I like staying in, too. :)

Glad you got a little R&R in. I like the pics of your "park".

Good luck with the sunflowers! I enjoy Saturday nights at home as well - once in a while. Glad your party-mommy is back home.
