Well, even though it was a short one, this weekend was really nice. I'm sure Trey will elaborate, but here are a few highlights:
Thursday night we got in a little late, but Friday got to sleep in a little (until 9-ish?). Friday was a great day with Trey's dad, all of his children, his grandbaby, and me. We had a fun time at the Stockyards, even getting to stop in and taste a bunch of new Texas wine - they must've had 30+ bottles at the tasting room this time around. We got home with plenty of time to play with Samuel and get ready for Friday night's event, which was a nice time.
Saturday we did a reunion picnic, which wasn't all that well attended, but had a nice time with the Lewises - their little girl is an absolute doll. We chilled during the afternoon and then went to the reunion dinner on Saturday night. It was a nice evening - Trey won an award (I'll let him tell about that) and I got mistaken for someone in the class ("Wow, Viki, you look so good!).
Sunday morning we hung out at Meme and D'Daddy's for a little while longer before heading over to Mawmaw & Pawpaw's for a family get-together. We did not leave, however, before a)D'Daddy gave me a bag of fresh squash for the road (I'd eaten about 3 myself the day before) and b) before I got teased for putting on Samuel's diaper backwards (yeah, some of us just shouldn't have kids).
Sunday afternoon was a really nice time hanging out, and Sunday night we went back to Trey's mom's. Monday we were lucky that Trey's mom and her husband, Tim, both had the day off and we just hung out by their pool all day. It was wonderful. Fast forward to 4pm, when we found out our 7pm flight was cancelled and things got a little hairy, but we got booked on a flight for this morning and all was well...it's just too bad that I spent this afternoon working from home instead of actually going in to work. :-)
Funny thing to note about the weekend is that I felt like I was slipping a little more into the Texan accent than normal - sayin things like "y'all" and "hot damn" and that kind of stuff. We will live in Texas some time in our lives, and I think y'all better watch out - I'm gonna start soundin' lahk a cowgirl!
PS - here's something even more fun - spell checker didn't highlight y'all as a mis-spelled word!

I'm laughing about the backwards diaper thing!
When my friend had her baby over a year ago, I went over to help out. It had been SOOO long since I'd changed a diaper (about 10 years) that I wasn't sure I remembered how. So, because I'm a huge dork, I looked it up online! I got teased for that too.
every time i read the D'Daddy i think of you as Blance Devaroe because 1) that's who you were characterized by when we all claimed a Golden Girl and 2) that's EXACTLY what she called her father! ha!!!
that's Blanche- oops!
aww, sounds like fun. I think I need a vacation, too. :)
oh yea, that diaper thing? priceless. I'm really amused!
I don't think I would know which side is which on a diaper either. :)
Glad you had a good time. Watch those texans will have you with a heavy southern twang in no time :)
Blanche called her father Big Daddy.
I love the southern accent. The cutest that I've heard so far was a girl from North Carolina. Glad you're back!
Oh this blog was funny. Glad you had a nice time. Don't become too Texan on us now. Your diaper story is too funny. There have been times that I STILL put Alex's on backwards because I'm not paying attention.
Somehow I have a really hard time imagining Viki with a southern accent.......but it sounds funny in my head!
