Last week and the weekend...

Hey all - again, sorry for the lack of posting. Things should get better now that Easter is over. We'll see I guess ;-)

Last week at work was again crazy, and things at home were a little nuts, too. We had one of those weeks where Trey and I only saw each other in passing until Friday night due to rehearsals on opposite nights. We got through it Ok, though, and had a nice relaxing Sunday after church was all done with.

As I mentioned, I had church a lot last week, starting with rehearsal Wednesday night. Things were a little trying at times, especially because the person I want to smack did a lot of singing - in the end I decided to take comfort in the fact that I'm a lot better than s/he is. I realize this sounds vain, but it still helped me get through it. After rehearsal Wednesday was Holy Thursday mass, Good Friday afternoon service, Easter Vigil, and then Sunday morning mass - the Easter Vigil was the shortest I've ever done at 2 hrs and 45 minutes. Sunday morning I cantored, which was fun. I always really enjoy singing Christmas and Easter morning because they're such joyous occasions, almost as much as I enjoy singing Advent & Lenten vespers services because they're so peaceful.

This place is really traditional, and there's a lot of stuff that happens that's pre-Vatican II (including some freaky little girls who run around in chapel veils and don't wear pants ever, but that's another story for another day - yes, Megan, I'll explain all of my other stories in a near future blog). Despite my not agreeing with the denomination on a lot of things, and not really considering myself one for a number of years, I still think that one of the best things the Catholics have going for them is some really rich tradition. After all of that church, it almost makes me want to do research on some of what went on that goes a little beyond what I remember from grade school and what I'm able to figure out. Hmm. Sometime.

We did do a few things other than church this weekend - Willie went in for his annual vaccinations and we had a not so fun vet in that he seemed very apathetic, although that word isn't quite strong enough to describe his lack of giving a shit.. I'm contemplating calling the place and complaining, or at least requesting that we don't get him next time we go. Seriously, when have you ever been to the vet and had someone who didn't ask how the pet was doing, if you had any other concerns, etc.? It was weird.

Saturday we also went to talk to the condo folks and now I feel a lot better about this whole conversion thing. It sounds like it's going to take a few months for everything to go down, but it's not like we're having to move and sell our old place so I'm not terrible worried.

Sunday was nice after church - we went to my mom's for brunch and just relaxed for a long time. When we got home we actually watched television for several hours - I can't remember when I last sat and just watched TV without doing ten other things at the same time. It was so nice just to veg. Yesterday was nice, too - it was a lower key day at work, and I had my first dentist appointment in 2 years (don't yell at me, circumstances really did prevent me from going before we got out of the Navy, and once we got back I needed to get birth control set up first. It's a process). I was a little afraid of what they were going to say, but...no cavities! Hooray!

Ok, enough for now. Happy Tuesday!

YAY no cavaties!!

I hope when you say the girls run around in veils with no pants ever, you mean that they always wear dresses. If not, I have never heard of that catholic tradition!! :) I would like to hear some of the things you are wondering about. I have learned a lot about my beliefs recently, so I am curious as to what traditions you found interesting!
