Animal behavior/religious cats…

Before I start, sorry I’ve been so bad about posting this week. Work has been beyond insane, and things at home have been very busy as well. I will be happy when Easter mass is over. For the record, I think that between mass this past Sunday and mass on Easter I will have spent close to 20 hours in church counting rehearsal time. Nuts! The more I think of it, too, I need to rethink this gig. This church is way conservative for me, to the point that it’s disturbing, but more on that later...we’ll have to see what happens next year. Anyway, on to my post, which was started yesterday…

So, I thought it might be funny to mention that despite the fact that I work about 3 blocks from the Quizno’s that coyote walked in to the other day, I didn’t hear about it until the next day when Trey e-mailed me about it. I saw a blurb on Good Morning America this morning, so I figured someone might be wondering if it was anywhere near me.

On the topic of animals doing funny things…have I ever mentioned Siggy’s Ash Wednesday kitty episode? Well, for those who haven’t heard, here’s a repeat, as well as another great religious cat story:

Back when Siggy was still relatively new around the household, he was more in to digging through garbage cans (Sepp still likes to go trash can diving, but only to pull out the Q-tips, but that’s another story). One day I came home and Siggy had some really dark markings in the middle of his forehead – it looked like he’d been to mass on Ash Wednesday. Turns out he’d gone digging in the bathroom garbage can after I’d sharpened an eye liner pencil. It was a few days before he cleaned it all off of himself.

More recently, just this week in fact, Sepp & Siggy had a nice team effort going on. I brought home some palm branches from church on Sunday and had set them on the counter. I’d completely forgotten about them until Tuesday night when Trey and I catch Siggy chewing on the little cat tent Trey’s mom got for us (from Ikea - in the pic below it's the tent on the left). I didn’t think much of it because he’ll often chew on the tent’s little cat whiskers. A few minutes later Trey actually sees something sticking out of the tent, Siggy turning flips around it. We look a little more closely, and the palm branch is sticking out of the tent. Now, Siggy has this habit about pulling things off of counters (we never see him, we just find him with the evidence later on). Sepp, on the other hand, will find something he likes, become possessive and drag it into the tent, and then guard it for a while before he leaves the tent again – before we had the tent he would drag stuff into a box that we had for him to hole up in. The only conclusion we came to was that they actually had to have been working as a team, with Siggy going up on to the counter to get the branches and Sepp dragging them into the tent. Weird cats.

Anyway, hope that's some nice entertainment for y'all. I'll write more later!

Great kitty story! At least you'll know where to check for those missing "I know I left that here" items. :-) That tent is totally cool.

HA! I love the Ash Wednesday story and tent story!! Animals are crazy! Steph and I have a similar problem with our dogs when they get into things… like when they dig in the trash can, you begin to yell at them both, not realizing who did it until you see the little red marks all over Titus’s nose from the ketchup packets you threw away the day before or when they bring your nice pretty stiletto in their mouth which used to be attached to a nice pretty Nine West leather pump :( That's a bummer...

I don't like these "that's another story" cut offs... I wanna hear 'em all!!
