So, I could write more about how crazy busy things are, but here’s something I’ve been pondering for a couple of days now (beware that I’ve been in a really reflective mood lately, so there will be more of this sort of thing)…do any of the random people I notice ever notice me? Or, do any other random people ever notice me?
This week I’ve noticed several people for the umpteenth time…like the girl wearing the tan-colored wool coat with the pink flowers on the bottom left-hand side I always pass right around the Monroe Street bridge; or the lady on the train who gets on at Arlington Park, takes off her earmuffs and pulls out her rosary each morning; or the woman who reminds my of my mom, only with blonde hair and glasses, because she’s always so jolly looking who I always pass right around Monroe & Franklin. I feel like each of these people is distinct in some way, at least enough for me to notice them several times a week in relatively the same spot, and I wonder why.
I also start to wonder if, like these people for me, is there anyone who notices me? What do they think of me if they see me on a regular basis? I always thing the girl with the neat coat must be cool because she’s got a really different coat, the lady with the rosary must take really good care of her family, and the last lady must be really fun to work with, being so jolly all of the time. As quickly as I walk all the time, do people think I’m too stressed out looking? Do they think I’m too serious? Do they think I must be in good shape? Do they think I’m running late?
Like I said, just something I’ve been pondering a little bit lately…not that it probably really matters much, but just something to think about.

i think that everyone hopes to be noticed in some way or another...
i think it's interesting that
1) your three examples are women
2) you have positive connotations for each person
problem is that you will never really know the answer to these questions- frustrating!
There were some men, too - like the older dude in the sporty Bulls jacket but the homemade/knitted blue scarf - but I couldn't think of them when I was writing the post.
I guess that my making positive remarks reflects that these days I'm feeling more the "all people are generally good and a few are schmucks" rather than the opposite, which happens from time to time...
I laugh at the differences in our world. Your trips are surrounded by people, mine are cars. I often get behind the pickup with very symmetrical bumper stickers, or the jeep with the really big Nebraska spare tire cover. I wonder if people notice my Texas Tech license plates often and refer to me at the TTU plate pickup. What a difference locations can make.

I notice people a lot. I sometimes feel like I should be saying hi to people I see regularly even when I don't know them...
I notice you... but then again I know you... but yeah I'm a people watcher too... so I tend to notice things as well!!! :)
Notice who????
Although I get to work/school by bus I hardly notice people because I read on the bus. Does that make me the "book girl"?
I notice people ALL the time. I notice the receptionist across the hall everytime I walk to the bathroom... I look at what she's doing or what her outfit looks like that day... I notice the man who stands outside everyday to wait with his daughter and son down the street for the school bus... I smile everytime I see his wife out there... it's like family time. Before I get too long with this... yeah I notice lots of people... I'm a people watcher. I remember them.. what they wear, what they're doing, what their expressions are... I too feel like I should say hi. I'm sure people notice you too! Interesting that you blogged about it though!
