A list kinda day...

1. I cannot wait until tomorrow morning because I can sleep in. Sundays I’ve been getting up before 8am, and last Saturday we got up at 5. I’m starting to feel a cold trying to come on, so I’m very thankful for this. Plus, with the springing ahead this weekend, I’ll need to catch up a little more right off the bat.

2. We’ve got Kindergruppe tonight, which means I get to sing with the kids! This is putting me in such a good, German mood that I listened to Austrian Express on my way in this morning (fantastic polka band – I can’t find their website). Man, you can really cruise if there’s a fast polka going on.

3. Follow up on #2…I really need to learn how to yodel.

4. Kristin will be home all of next week because the school she works at is on spring break! I’m very excited to see her and help out with more of her wedding stuff!

5. I’m also really looking forward to visiting folks in Ohio in May!

6. March & April are both going to be over before I know it – next weekend is a Donau function, the weekends after that I’ve got concerts, and then we’re in April with Easter, more concerts, and more German club stuff. I love it! (Karen and Jim, if you do come out to Chicago, and care to join in any of the festivities, I can send you a schedule of Johnson concerts and German club events *grin*)

7. I auditioned for the Chicago Symphony Chorus on Tuesday night, and though I had some minor breathing things due completely to nerves in my opinion, I think I did well. I am hoping for a callback, which I should hear about next week some time.

8. We had our last opera of the season Wednesday night – Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte. It was good, but not the best we’ve seen this year. Then again, it’s never been one of my favorites, despite being Mozart, as it just kind of goes on and on (3 ½ hours with no intermission). It also didn’t help that we were both really tired. Trey hated the set, too – it was supposed to be in Naples, Italy in the 1750s, but they put it in British South Africa at the turn of the century. I thought it worked very well. As for the music, the lead sopranos were both great, but the main one was weaker in the lower register which she used a lot. Loved all of the male leads. The orchestra was having intonation issues during the first act – any melodies in octaves were not good. Whoever was causing it must’ve gotten reemed out during intermission, because the second act was fine. Anyway, it’s sort of sad that the season went out with a fizzling, but next year is going to be incredible!

That’s all for now – have a great weekend everyone!

I've always wanted to learn to yodel too. Although I cannot sing, so your yodeling will be far better than mine. :)

Have fun with the kindergruppe tonight!

Personally I have to say my favorite opera to date has to be Pirates of Pinzance. :-)

Yodelling is awesome! There was this 12 year old girl on Talent that was awesome at it last year!

Kilroy was here!

My roommate LOVES anything German... maybe I can convince her to come to Chicago with me this summer and we'll have to catch one of your events!

Megan there is a great German club in Cincinnati! They're off of the Colerain Rd. exit on the 275, or whatever express that is that you take to Karen's parents'...they're fantastic folks!
