Got a church gig!

So, the only thing I'm going to post about today is that I got a church gig! I'm a ringer in the soprano section at a church in Lombard, which is about 30 minutes from where I live if traffic's good. It's $150 a month, plus extra if there's a fifth Sunday or if I have to go to a rehearsal.

Best thing is - I'd thought going into the audition that it was a section leader position, so I thought I'd have to go out there on Wednesday nights for rehearsal (tricky coming from downtown - I would've had to drive to Lombard before work and take the train from there) but I don't. I also thought I'd actually have responsibility, like keeping track of people, passing out music, leading sectionals, etc., but all I have to do is show up and sing! And the music director at this church picks good music! Hooray!

Add to that the fact that I'll probably get a decent amount of wedding gigs out of this and I'm one happy girl. Not only am I getting paid to sing, but it'll make life a lot easier around here - wait a few months and maybe next time I do the online mortgage calculater (you know, the kind that you type in income, area, etc. and it figures out what kind of mortgage payment you can afford) the computer won't laugh at me. :-) For all of you who are not familiar with real estate in Chicago, I'm not kidding.
