So, I decided that since I had a job I could finally go test drive a VW Golf before shopping around for the best deal. Drove the car yesterday - love it! I so belong in a VW!
Anyway, after the test drive I sat down with the Autobarn sales guy, who gave me a pretty good deal based on the options I wanted (namely the heated seats - yes, I know I will once again be in danger of my butt catching on fire). Then I asked some questions about the car, warranty options, financing and some other things, all of which indicated that I'd done my homework. He gave me a better deal. When I said I didn't want to buy the car that night, he cut me an even better deal...at least, I figure that $700 under the invoice with a few other bonuses thrown in is pretty good. I felt so good I almost held the car, but decided that I didn't want to look too eager, and that I should shop around a little more.
This morning I went to the other dealership I was considering, walked in and said I was interested in the Golf. The guy I talked to was pretty much a sleazy car salesman. When I asked about finance rates, quoting specific numbers from the VW website, he said that he wasn't sure and he'd have to check. When I asked about pricing on the car and said that it seemed high and that I was expecting a better deal he said he might be able to come down but he wasn't sure. When I asked about why the taxes and fees were higher at his dealership he said the guy at the Autobarn had lied to me. I finally asked if there was any way he could match the Autobarn's price and he said he wasn't sure.
At that point, even if they had been able to match the Autobarn's price, I would've gone back to the Autobarn because I was actually treated like the educated consumer I am. This other place basically tried to mix up numbers so they could inflate their prices...you'd think they'd give up when someone with extensive notes walked in the door and then proved she knew what she was talking about. Long story short, I went to the Autobarn, they weren't lying to me, and I pick up my beautiful new VW Golf on Saturday!
On a completely different note, I just came across someone who didn't know how to operate a copy machine. I'm helping out at St. James this evening, and a woman just came in here and tried to copy something, got all kinds of error messages and was becoming very frustrated with the machine...I don't know what she was doing because I stood up, put the original on the glass and pressed a button...viola! I don't get it...

Yeah for new cars! I want a new car!
Why isn't Trey coming? That's sad. Now who will Kendall suffer with? Haha.
Viki.....the Vikmeister....Vik-o-rama, makin' copies. Dumb lady....stup-a-riffic, can't work the machine. Vikmeister comin' to the rescue.
congrats - that's very exciting! You need to post a picture of you modeling beside it like a Price Is Right girl!
Come on down....your the next contestant on the Price is Wright. I think Karen is right, even though I have no idea who she is!!!
Isn't it funny about copy machines that way. Some how at work I have become the guy to go to when the copier is jammed. How did I get this designation, I do not know. I actually had a coworker tell me that I needed to teach someone how to do that before I left. Man I am so valued here!
Viki... now you know what i deal with EVERY time i work at St. Jmaes... some of the people who are affiliated with St. James are not the brightest :)
love you and miss you lots...
ALSO, i'm VERY jealous of your new car... My question for you is: when are you moving to a foriegn country so i can buy this one off you (and not let leslie drive it EVER!!!)
