My latest fixation + stuff for UD folks

Some of you are probably aware that I have a small obsession with Pope Benedict XVI. This actually has very little to do with the fact that he's Pope: a) I'm not terribly thrilled about Catholicism to begin with, and b) I've heard he's pretty conservative and I generally don't go for that either. "Explain this to me," you say. Well, some of it is because he's Bavarian (a bunch of my relatives live in the town he was born in-Marktl am Inn), some of it is because he's a cat person (he actually has a cat in the Papal apartments and before he became Pope he used to feed the stray cats around the Vatican), and some of it is because he's just so cute and friendly.

I have a little pewter Benny medal from Rome that I often wear around my neck, and I have several other Pope things from when Trey and I went to Marktl last September for my cousin's wedding. We brought back Pope postcards, Pope beer (yes, they make it), a Pope beer tote bag, a candle with the Pope Benedict XVI Lied (song) printed on it, and a bumper sticker that says "Gute Farht!" (Good driving/trip) with a picture of Benny over a Bavarian flag.

This bumper sticker is the item in question today. I only have one, which is currently being held onto my refrigerator with a magnet. As of Saturday, however, I will have to put in on my car. The problem is I don't have a spare - ahhh! Thank goodness I have a few days left before my job starts so the fact that I just wasted an hour and a half online looking for one won't be an issue. I guess I'll just have to have Onkel Sepp bring one when he comes for Mark's wedding...

Again, on a completely different note, I just registered for the UD Reunion porch party on Saturday night (yeah for the online registration discount!). I also registered for the Art Street tour on Saturday afternoon - it's free - because I really want to see it. Just wanted to let you guys know!

Seriously. You have a nickname for the man? Benny. I have heard of people like you, but mostly after restraining orders have been enacted.

It has been said that Viki gets her wierd sense of humor from her mother. And yes, it's okay to call him Benny.....

Did you try Ebay to see if there are bumper stickers there people are selling? Just a though. You are a funny woman Ms. Viki. :-)

Hooray for registering to party. LOL.

Of course it's Ok to call him Benny - we used to call the old one "JP," at least, my boss did.

For Sarah W, yes, I tried Ebay as well. I scoured all of the Catholic store online, and even went to Marktl's town website - they have a store, but, alas, no pope bumper stickers...
