Going out for pizza

So, tonight my mom helped me get a few more things out to the apartment, including Willie (Mark helped A LOT this morning). Sepp and Siggy will be out there in another few days - I was going to pick them up today, too, but the foster home they're in wanted to keep them a little longer. Glad my cats are so lovable. :-)

Anyway, my mom decides she wants to go to the California Pizza Kitchen for dinner after moving stuff around. We get there, park a half a block away, and I realize that it's raining a little hard. Worried about getting too much water in the open part of my cast by my toes, I remark, "Wow I should've had you drop me off at the door," and duck under an awning. My mom, feeling bad, asks if I want her to drop me off at the door, which I refuse because the thought of driving half a block once we're parked already is ridiculous. I say that we can just wait for it to let up.

Well, instead of letting up, it gets heavier. I try to wrap my mom's jacket around my foot, but that doesn't work and I mention that I should've brought a garbage bag along. Mom exclaims, "I have one in the car!" and runs back, leaving me under the awning. While she's in the car getting the garbage bag, it starts hailing.

When it stops hailing, she comes back and I stick my foot in the garbage bag. You know, those tall kitchen sizes of Hefty Cinch Sacks are the perfect size for sticking your foot in and then walking down the street...the handles allow you to keep the bag closed and stand up straight to walk. Anyway, here we are, walking down the street and I have a garbage bag over my left leg. We get to the restaurant, are seated, and look out the window....it'd stopped raining!

Hope that made y'all laugh!

Viki, you forgot to mention that all durring dinner it hardly rained at all, but started pouring again, just as we were ready to leave. So we had to repeat the garbage bag on the foot scene for the trip back to the car! At least the pizza was tasty!
