Presents from Sepp

It's a well known fact that cats are natural predators - they'll go on the hunt to kill mice or birds or whatever small animals they happen to find. Most of the time they will bring their killings to the doorstep, symbols of pride in themselves and appreciation for their owners. Although my boys are indoor cats, Sepp is quite the hunter. Anyone remember my writings during the summer we arrived in Naples when I'd describe how Sepp would catch the little lizards on the front porch?

The only problem with Sepp's hunting style is that he doesn't actually bring us things, he'll just catch a little animal, play with it until it's dead, then leave it on the floor. He once caught a lizard and after he let it out of his mouth to play with it, it ran behind the entertainment center...and stayed there for about four hours, during which time Sepp sat there patiently waiting for it to come out. Once this happened, Sepp played with its limp body, eventually killed it, and left it on the floor for us to scoop up.

Now, on to the surprise...I'll bet you're all thinking that we found a dead lizard somewhere. Nope! Even better! Last night as we were sitting down on the couch, I pulled a blanket up off of it, and out fell a little dead frog. The thing was all dried up and crusty, and because it's toward the end of the winter, we're also pretty sure it's been in the house for months. We know it was Sepp who did it, but we're really curious as to where he's been hiding it all this time!

I love cats. :-)

I'm sure my other cat owning friends would smile at this story but it makes me freaky. What a strange thing to love sepp more for leaving a dead crusty frog for you in bed! ha!

LOL!!!! Karen was right, this story made me laugh. I'm glad all our cats play with are spiders, but I'm sure if they had their chance it would be between Ashby and Butler doing the search and destroy act.

But, eww gross a crusty dead frog!

This is why I own dogs. They eat their own crap sometimes...but I can handle that. Dead frogs and lizards, no way.

I'm with Lisa on this one! I can't begin to imagine how I would react to finding a dead, crusty frog in a blanket, but I'm quite sure it wouldn't be with enthusiasm!
