Hey all - we made it back safe...Trey, me, and all 3 of our boys. Everything went surprisingly smoothly, all the way from checking in in Naples to both of us arriving in our respective cities. I think the trick was to be some of the first people in Naples to check in, which took about an hour because of the 3 cats, and the first in line to re-check in at Fumicino in Rome, which also took a long time because of the cats and my foot accommodation.
Now, here's the really fun part about the trip - we weren't looking forward to the flight from Rome to Atlanta because it was going to be 11 1/2 hours and we were supposed to be in coach and not sitting together. Because my foot was in a cast and I had to keep it elevated (it really swelled up and was very uncomfortable on the short haul flights) they had to make accomodations, which I figured would mean moving me to the first row in coach where I'd have the space to prop my foot up on something.
I was wrong...they moved Trey and I both up to Business Elite, Delta's equivilant of first class on this particular flight. The whole situation was wonderful, if only because Trey and I actually got to sit together and because I got to keep my foot up - no swelling at all, which made for a much better experience. I think the great service just made it even better - having real food on real china with real linens and a selection of wines and other beverages poured into real glassware...I only slept for about 45 minutes of the flight but felt more refreshed and relaxed afterwards than I ever have on an overseas trip.
Anyway, that's enough about that. Now that I'm back in Chicago I've hit the ground running. I have a second interview set up for next week, and a job fair to attend on Wednesday. Friday is apartment hunting day. :-)

Welcome Home! And way to go on first class!
I don't think hitting the ground running is what you need for help make your foot better, but to each their own. first class is nice isn't it? I got to travel first class going to DFW last week. I wasn't so lucking coming back. Must have been a sign.
