This weekend my mom had something she hasn't gotten in a long time...all 4 of her kids at the breakfast table at the same time. Kristin was home for Spring Break and Mark and Tony both had the day (or at least the morning for Mark) off, so Mark decided to make Mr. Bill's eggs and hash browns, and Kristin was nice enough to cut up a bunch of melon for me. :-)
Having a great American breakfast without having to cook any of it was really a treat - I did do almost all of the cleanup, so I wasn't being totally lazy - but a meal with all of my siblings is way better than any yummy food. I think we had my mom laughing so hard she was crying in about 5 minutes flat, and Tony had me laughing so hard at one point that I almost started choking. As much as we wanted to kill each other when we were little, nowadays sitting down to a table together is always a guarantee that I will come away with high spirits and stay that way for the rest of the day. Even better is when my grandparents are here and we're all at the table together. Those of you who haven't heard Trey do an Oma impression should ask him about it ("Now, I got dat at die Aldi").
After the fun breakfast, some bonding with Kristin before dropping her off to catch her ride back to school, and visiting Sepp and Siggy, I'm feeling much better. Of course, I think putting the apartment on hold yesterday after spending about $500 on some professional clothes helped a little, too.
Yes, I spent $500 in one day at the mall...but, I got 2 suits, a pair of shoes, and some jewelry, and both of the suits look fantastic on me. I'm justifying buying this all at once by saying that 1) I didn't have a suit, let alone something I could really wear to an interview and look as sharp as I wanted to, 2) I truly need it as even my semi-professional looking clothes were all ratty 2 years ago and I haven't picked up anything since 'cause I didn't need it in Naples, 3) it was all on sale - had I paid full price for everything it would've all cost $250 more, and 4) I will feel fantastic at interviews this week!
Last thing and then I'll shut up - Trey pointed out to me last night that there's a job open at the Chicago Symphony now that's pretty much the same thing I'm interviewing for tomorrow. Tell me if I'm being too paranoid, but I'm wondering if the person who was at the symphony interviewed at Ravinia and was already hired but they're not telling me that yet. I would think that their time there is too valuable to be wasting it in interviews if that were the case, though. I hope this is just a coincidence. In any case, think of me tomorrow at 11am Central Standard Time!

Just wanted to say good luck.
Good luck. Will be thinking of you.
Got to love sibling/parent meals now that we are older. I'm finding out the same thing is true. You hated each other when you were little and now that everyone is older its a blast (most of the time). :-)
Thanks for the call yesterday - sorry i missed you (i heard the message at 10:00 at night!). Glad to hear that you're wisely spending money - wish i had more clothes that had that tailored look to them.
I don't think you're being paranoid about the meeting. consider it another open door for you. :) BEST OF LUCK!
Good luck with the interview!!!
It truly is a joy, having all of your offspring together at the same table, and not fighting about something!
