So, I was on the metro this morning coming back from a voice lesson and while the train was stopped at one of the stations I saw something interesting. A woman sitting on a bench took out her dentures, put them away in some sort of case, pulled a sandwich out of her backpack, and proceded to eat the sandwich. ???
I'm confused. Don't you normally need the dentures in order to eat sandwiches? The fake teeth in question were really dentures - a full set, no less - not a retainer or anything. I came to this conclusion based on their pretty, pearly white appearance as well as the way the woman's lips curled around her gums once she took them out. The train sat at the station for a few minutes so I actually got to watch her eat part of the sandwich and she seemed to do pretty well.
Despite the fact that this is making me smack myself in the head, it's one of those things that doesn't seem out of place in Naples. I'd be far more confused were I on the El in Chicago.
Anyway, this is one of the random things that I'd hoped to be able to write about often in a blog. I hope that you're all enjoying the humor, and please feel free to comment on whether or not you've ever seen anything like this happening.

That is too funny... maybe she didn't want to have to clean them after all that bread... you know how it can get stuck in between your teeth sometimes. LOL. Thanks for the smile (and visual). :-D
Crazy! I can totally picture the whole scene playing out in my mind right now!
It happened at Campli Flegrei...
Viki, don't you remember that Tante Bevi used to do the exact same thing! She said she couldn't eat with her fake teeth in her mouth, so she would take them out of her mouth and lay them on the table while she ate, and the rest of us got to look at them.
Crazy things happen all over, not just in Naples!
Mom
I'm with Trey, I can just imagine this lady doing it! Great story! I never get to see anything that funny!
