Hooray for Federal holidays, or I might never catch up! On the agenda for today after posting this and reading others' blogs: laundry, running, other house cleaning, and sorting out my Kindergruppe stuff, something I've been meaning to get to for about year.
Last week was when everything started up again, which for me meant Wicker Park (new group) on Wednesdays, CCC on Thursdays, and Kindergruppe every other Friday. Although I'd never heard WP in concert, I was pretty optimistic about them based on people I knew in the group and things other people had said about them, and after the first rehearsal I think it will be fine. The time we spent rehearsing was a little slow-paced for my taste, but it was only the first rehearsal.
CCC will be a little nuts this spring - the music for our next concert ("Water: the Currents of Life") is challenging but not too hard, but our big thing is a recording project scheduled for June. It's always so nice to have a recording (guess what everyone's getting for Christmas next year), but the process is always such a pain. Oh well. Hopefully there have been some advances over the past few years that'll make recording with a group a little less mentally taxing.
Saturday was the last of our relaxing weekend days for a while - we slept in, worked out, straightened up the house, and went to friends' for fondue and consequently ate too much. Yesterday we had stuff going on during the day, but were very happy to discover, while looking for a movie last night, that season 2 of The Tudors was out. That and some wine made for a very nice end to the weekend.
I'll try and be better about posting more often as work will hopefully calm down a little. I'm expecting, too, that things in Chicago will be fun and lively for the next few days - people are just a little bit excited about the inauguration. :-)
Happy Monday!
