Sorry, things have been too nuts again this week...
So, Thanksgiving was fun - we were again at my brother Mark's house. I've come to enjoy going over early to help out, when typically it's just me, Tony and Mark of the Rill kids, Karen, and Cassie (their dog). It's really nice that we can work together peaceably...and even have a good time. :-)
Dinner was fun - Ota was especially cranky, much to the amusement of some friends we'd invited along who'd never witnessed Ota at all before. Dinner was yummy and people gave me the typical hard time for taking so long to eat, which is too bad for them because a) it just is, and b) I really couldn't get too full because of my gig later on. We got good leftovers to take home, including what has arguably become our favorite T-day tradition: our homemade cranberry sauce.
I left around 6pm because of that high profile gig I mentioned last week. What gig? A small group of us from CCC sang at R. Kelly's house. No, I'm not kidding. Now, I don't want to say too much because we all had to sign confidentiality statements (number 2 paragraph of which stated that we had to be 21 - ha!) and give our addresses and drivers license numbers before they let us in the gate, but yes, it was a pretty sweet house.
There was a stage in front/open part of the house just past the entryway, which was big enough for a grand piano and 15 people, although that was a little tight). We sang while the guests were beginning dinner and then hung out in the game room off the pool until we were needed again. Those of us who didn't want to stay and eat after we performed (it was 11:30pm by then, and I had an almost hour and a half drive home) were taken out the back way, which felt more like a super-secret exit to me - I felt like I needed a quarter (anyone ever been to the Safe House in Milwaukee)?
Anyway, that's all I have time for today - I hope to be able to catch up on your blogs tomorrow!

W-O-W! That's amazing. I didn't even know he lived in the Chicago area...
So did you actually meet him?
We did not actually meet him. We did, however, get to hear him sing an aria. I think my Italian was better before I ever even tried to speak it...
Wow. I feel cooler just because I know you. And he sang an aria? Really!?!
