I could've sworn there was something else I wanted to post about on Friday, but it's escaping me now...oh, well. This weekend was fun, and even though I feel like our house is still a mess, it was really productive!
Friday night was Kindergruppe for me, and most of the kids were there. When most are there it means that we've got close to 60 kids. Whew! We're getting them ready now for a performance the day after Thanksgiving at the Arlington Heights Christkindl Markt and I was thrilled with the realization that I can have them do their singing from memory. They sound great!
Saturday I went back to club for German school, first to sing with the Kindergarten, and then to sing with the rest of the school. The little ones were adorable - one little girl spent the entire time about 6 inches from my face watching me very intently. Future music teacher? Hmm. Anyway, the older kids sound great, too - two years ago when I started singing with them they were not good to put it mildly. I think we've gotten them trained, however, because they actually sing, loudly and in tune. Hooray!
Saturday afternoon Trey and I got a bunch of Christmas shopping done in Long Grove. After a few more items to be picked up this week, I'll be able to get everything boxed up and sent to Texas in plenty of time for Christmas, and it only took us an hour and a half! After that we met up with some NoKidding! Chicago folks for wine tasting at the Glunz winery and then dinner. I must say, the Glunz glühwein isn't the best stuff I've ever had, but it was a nice way to end the tasting.
Sunday was church as usual, followed by the Jugendgruppe's Santa Brunch, then off to Binny's for our Thanksgiving wine (we decided on one bottle each of the Georges Duboeuf and the Dupeuble Beaujolais Nouveau). Something absolutely hysterical from the brunch, however, was one of the raffle prize baskets, which contained remote control, hopping, yodeling lederhosen, complete with a knockwurst remote control. Unfortunately, we did not win the basket containing the lederhosen, but the folks who did were nice enough to open the basket, which was enough to satisfy our curiosity. If you do not check out any other link in this post, you have to check out the lederhosen link. :-)
That's all for today - happy Monday of a short week!

I love your stories of the little kids at Kindergruppe. :)
I need to pick out some Thanksgiving wine for us!
wow, what a first - you got two posts in before I read the first!
:)
I love the kids from kindergruppe, too.
I'm thinking beaujolais neuveau, as well. I got all excited last thursday when I realized it was the THIRD thursday already! But, unlike you, I haven't gone shopping for it yet... I hear that duboeuf is usually the best, and is the one I'd gravitate towards if I was unsure, anyway. Glad to hear it is again, this year (at least from a wine-o's perspective). ;)
