Big news!

I wasn't sure that Mark & Karen had made this public, but Evi put something about it on her blog, so here goes...

There will be a Rill baby early next summer - congratulations to Mark and Karen, who are expecting their first to arrive around June!

Even better for Mark is his new job. He's been trying to get into a local fire department for a couple of years (he currently works in a suburban department, but is contracted through a separate company) and started a new job this week. He works for Prospect Heights Fire Department and will be officially sworn in on November 18. I'm very excited to be attending, as Trey and I missed his graduation from Firefighter Academy because we were still in Italy. I'm very proud of my little brother - he's so good at what he does. :-)

wahoo! you get a niece or nephew -soooo much fun. Seriously. Being an Aunt is GREAT! You get to spoil them, and play with them, and be around them when you want (to some extent), but then when you need your time away from them, or their diaper is dirty or they're crying, you just hand the dirty noisy baby back to their parents. :) I liken it to being able to shake up a soda bottle and then handing it back to your sibling to open. :D

actually it's not aunt, it's... uh...what the heck.... some short word in german.

The word is "Tante" - I will be Tante Viki. :-)

You might also be thinking of "Godi," which is what I call my aunt Trudi. Godi is the word for Godmother, and though she's my and my sister's Godmother, the boys always called her Godi, too.
