So, the Cubs didn't do well in the NLDS. It boggles my mind that they can collapse two years in a row. Despite that, however, it was a good weekend. Trey and I actually cooked 3 meals - dinner Saturday night, and brunch and dinner Sunday. We treated ourselves to Lou Malnati's on Friday night. Hooray for deep dish! I haven't had any in months...and actually, I can't remember the last time I did. What a joy to actually get to spend time and relax with your spouse over the weekend!
On to the point of my message - Trey and I both decided that it would be a good idea to get season tickets to the Cubs, or at least get on the waiting list. We did that this afternoon. Guess where we're at:
Trey - 97,342
Me - 97,349 (I signed up about 8 minutes after he did)
This is worse than the Packers season ticket waiting list. I was going to write that as I recall, Dale is somewhere in the 80s on that one, but I just looked back on his blog - last year this time he was #45842, and estimated it would take him 85 years to actually get tickets based on the 500 or so people a year that got removed from the wait list. Ugh. I guess I'll have to see how many people are on the wait list this time next year...

I need that number put into perspective for me....how many seats come available for the Cubs every year? Because this sounds like you'll get tickets when you're like 90!
That's funny.
I don't mean to laugh. Really. But it is.
Good luck!
It's going to take so long that if I'm really lucky and live to be 120, I might actually get to buy them. It almost makes me want to think about having kids so that my great, great grandchildren would get to go to games more often...almost.
Viki--I like that you would have children so they could support the cubs!!
so, have you considered being the mistress of some guy with really fantastic seats? Perhaps Trey could be your personal assistant (funded by your "side love") and therefore would have to attend ALL games with you?
Well Jen, I said I'd only almost consider, not that I would.
I'll 'whore myself up' to make money for German club, as long as it only involves pouring beer. Being the mistress of some guy just for Cubs ticets would involve more than that, so I think I'll pass. :-)
