Chicago's own HiGUY!

So, I'm sure most people have seen "Jesus" walking around their respective cities - the last time I saw him was on the El. Similarly, in Chicago we have a guy known as the "Hi Guy." Here's a picture I found on Flickr...

The picture doesn't clearly show his "logo" but you get the idea. The first time I saw him I was a little bit intrigued, slightly confused, and thought he was probably a little kooky. He wasn't riding his bicycle at that point either, rather had a little fold-up stool he carried around. All of his stuff was in plastic grocery bags.

Last year I learned that he lives somewhere along my train line, northwest of Palatine, when I saw him on the morning train in. It was fun to get to see him up close (my favorite thing about him is the little rainbow beanie with the spinner on tip he always wears).

Apparently, he's taken to riding a bicycle again. This morning I saw him riding up Wacker Drive, heading toward Michigan Avenue. This prompted me to do a bit of research, and I found his story. It's also amazing how he seems to pop up all over the place, especially at area running events (click on this link to get a good look at his signature t-shirt). One local blogger caught a great shot of him near the Shedd Aquarium, and also explains how he found his bike. Finally, here's his own website!
Anyway, hope you have a good Tuesday. Things are a little weird at work today, so God knows I could use a little smile!

Cute. We don't have Jesus, neither do we have a HiGuy. But we have a lot of Mozarts... :)

Hmm. I don't know who we have here. But there are at least 3 Jesus' around Cincy - and that's just what *I* know of!!

hehe. you spend a lot of time near Wacker Drive, don't you? It's been mentioned in like 3 recent posts!!

What made you think to look up the Hi Guy? I probably would have just thought it was some crazy bum, but he has a real story going on!!

Good story Viki. I'm going to share it with my kids at school. We're getting ready to introduce a project to the kids involving Halloween and the local children's hospital. I think this will be a good intro to our project. :)

I have no idea. I figure that he's either independently wealthy, or works second shift somewhere. I only see him in the mornings and early afternoons.
