Weird associations

So, there are some words I'll see or hear that remind me of things which are completely unrelated. For example: there is a town in Illinois called Tolono. One of our telecommuting employees lives in Tolono, and as I am responsible for sending company wide announcements, newsletters, and similar pieces of information out to telecommuters, I often mail things to him. While I'm not sure exactly how to pronounce this town's name, my guess is that the Os are long. In my mind Tolono is very close to tonno, which is the Italian word for tuna. Therefore, every time I send this guy stuff, I think of tuna.

Last night Trey and I were enjoying an evening at home together and watching the baseball game, and I found another, much stranger, one of these. The announcers kept talking about the Washington Nationals, referring to them using the "Nats" nickname. Now, in my mind, this word is very similar to nads. Just imagine the images going through my head!

hahaha! That's funny!
Both of them are great!
It'd be great if next time you saw the guy, you told him every time his name comes up you think of Tuna.

What's a nad?

HAHAHAHA.
I love it when things get "lost in translation".
Sorry, Katrin, I'm not really laughing AT YOU.
A "nad" would be short for "gonad".
At least that's what I think of. Viki, you have any others???

Nope, that's what I was thinking of...except only the male kind...and the dudes that go along with them. You may wish to refer to the pictures in the post I did in June of 2007 after my sister's bachelorette party.

Anyway, I was getting images of little cartoon guys with legs, arms and baseball caps running around the field. :-)

When I read Katrin's question I forget that sometimes Americans use very unusual slang....

For me, when the announcers kept saying "nats," I kept thinking of GNATS, and imagining little flying bugs with baseball caps.

don't ask me how, but my cousin somehow talked my uncle into naming the company-sponsored softball team the "NADS". Yeah, so glad to see my company logo under that title...
