Friday!

I'm glad it's Friday, although this week didn't seem as long as others since I took a sick day Wednesday (I was legitimately sick). I'm also happy to report that this week there was/is relatively little going on, and that this weekend is the last "calm" weekend before several crazier ones. So, here are just a few random things I've been thinking of during this relatively low-key week:

Last Friday night we got two new kids in the Kindergruppe - twin three-year-old boys. Man, what a riot. G was very excited to be there, and was very focused while dancing (apparently at Tag der Donauschwaben earlier this month, it was a struggle for mom and dad to keep him from running on stage and dancing with the kids). After each dance he'd run up to his parents and yell, "I dance! I dance!" and then run back to me and yell, "Nudder one?!" He just beamed the whole time. His brother, B, was not so focused, but incredibly energetic - we just had to make sure he was going in the right direction. This is going to be fun. :-)

Saturday night we got a movie, The Darjeeling Express, with Owen Wilson and...what's her name? The lady who played the mom in the recent Addams Family movies?...among others. Sort of weird movie, but enjoyable. I kind of want to see it again because I feel like I probably missed a lot.

Wednesday morning I was feeling not quite normal, and was ultimately happy that I didn't want out the door 90 seconds before I did...which would've had me pulling over and sticking my head out the car door. Weird. All in all, not a bad thing as I was a) feeling better by about 1pm, b) had been wanting to take a mental health day just to veg and not do much anyway, and c) was able to catch much more of the Cubs-Braves double header than I would have otherwise.

On that note, in the Cubs-Braves 3 game series this week, the Cubs outscored Atlanta 31 to 9 in 3 games! They've also been winning on the road, which is really important...if they can win every 2 of 3 games from here on out, they're all set. It's almost unbelievable that it's August and this is going on. Unfortunately, I have to miss most of the game tonight because I'm singing a church service tonight. Oh well - at least I can catch the end.

Finally, this weekend is the Air & Water Show in Chicago (no, we're not going). Yesterday I guess there was some practicing/rehearsal going on because we kept hearing the planes. It was a little freaky as it sounded like they were a little too close to our building!

Have a great weekend all!
