Because I really need to catch up...

I'm going to do a really random post today. I got through the week of the 21st Ok, and last week was busy but good, too...

1. I think one of my favorite things during late July was that CCC started up a bit again. The 24th was our annual summer outreach concert, I had my re-audition on the 28th, and callbacks were the 31st. Saturday (8/3) I drove out to Michigan for the annual Saugatuk, MI concert and had a great time - we should do 2 voices instead of 4 on a part all the time! I drove up right before the concert and back to Chicago right after, so luckily the weather was perfect for driving!

2. Kaitlin's flight was majorly delayed on Thursday night - she was supposed to get in at 10:10pm, but didn't land until 12:40am and didn't get back to the apartment until after 1:15 when I went to bed. We told her to please sleep in if she wanted to, but she still got up and went to work with me Friday, and since I went early that meant we left the house at 6:30am. She was a HUGE help.

3. Yes, I survived last Friday. It all actually went very well, but I was still pretty worn out. I'm so glad I have some lesson planning experience and have worked with kids enough.

4. My grandparents still crack me up. Sunday was the annual Donauschwaben picnic and we went to say hi to them. Within minutes Oma was sidetracked into discussing with someone else why it was that the goulasch turned out the way it did this time vs. the last time they made it. Later in the week, when Kaitlin and I went to visit her and I told her that we hadn't eaten dinner yet (it was 7:30pm), she got a horrified look on her face and asked, "Now vat did you eat today?"

5. Tuesday morning I was home and looking out onto the porch and saw our tailless squirrel. I think he's gotten himself hurt, though, because he was sort of limping and couldn't put any weight on his front left paw. Poor guy.

6. Yesterday the Cubs scored 7 runs in the third inning to ultimately beat Houston 11-4, which kept them at 5 games ahead of both the Brewers and the Cardinals. They're off today, but play St. Louis this weekend which should be a great series. Someone at work was looking to sell tickets a friend of his couldn't use...they were for one of the rooftops and included all you could eat/drink through the 7th inning, but they were $200 apiece. Ouch!

7. Yes, I have started an "Hours of AC this year" count. We've really only had the AC on for 32 1/2 hours so far. I was tempted the other day, but glad I held off. The best part, our normally $34/month bill stays at that instead of tripling, and it's so mild this year that the house is still very comfortable. Hooray!

Ok, enough for now - happy Thursday all!

I would love to sit on one of the rooftops for a cubs game. I would not however spend $200 for a seat.

I laughed out loud at your Oma story...which was extra funny because I am sitting by myself in Panera, and several people looked at me like I am crazy.

you think your tailless squirrel is injured b/c you saw it limp? You mean the lack of tail wasn't an indication?!??
