Random stuff/Texas post

So, one of the good things about working in a big city is that there are always people handing out random free samples. Over the past couple of years I've gotten things like gum, mints, a variety of 100 calorie snacks, cereal, shampoo, skin cream, Gatorade, Craisins, Dr. Pepper, you name it. Well, yesterday afternoon I got the most random free sample yet...a Glade Plug-in. How nuts is that? People on the street corner with huge cardboard boxes full of Glade Plug-ins, just handing them out to anyone who walks by and wants one.

Now, I'm not really one for home fragrance dispensers but Trey and I do like to use them when we have overnight guests. Not that our house smells, but overnight guests are always put up in our guest room/office, in which there is a litter box when guests are not staying here. While we do clean the litter box frequently and use odor-killing litter so that it doesn't normally smell at all, we always do take extra steps to make sure things smell fresh and clean for our guests.

Anyway, I'm very excited about this Glade dispenser because the unit itself doesn't plug into the wall. Instead, it sits on a surface and has a cord that plugs into the wall. This is great because our outlets are sideways, and therefore are not condusive to the fragrance things that plug into the wall (such as the Febreeze kind - sorry Jim). Even better that I got the thing for free!
Ok, so, enough of that. Quick Texas recap:

  • Spent some time with Samuel, who is the most adorable little boy on earth, and who is fearless enough to do things like run into windows and give himself big bruises on the forehead without flinching.
  • Went to a Fort Worth Cats game with Kaitie & her friend, sat right behind the oposing team's dugout, and got a huge kick out of watching them try to get pictures of the cutest player's butt.
  • Visited the Fort Worth Zoo and saw a mommy chimp trying to pretect her baby from Trey, some playful prairie dogs, and a beautiful white tiger. This zoo reminds me of Berlin's because it's like a great big park - lots of trees and shade, and a really nice place to be outside all day.
  • Got to go out to the farm for a mini-Johnson family reunion.
  • Found a new wine tasting place in Grapevine.
  • Saw a bunch of folks from Trey's mom's side, who all always seem to come over when we're in town. It's great, and so convenient for us. :-)
  • Sat by the pool for a little while each day, and successfully got my legs to be a little less pasty looking!

Ok, enough for now - it's back to work for me. Have a great rest of the week!

I want free snacks.

I'm not one for fragrances, either. I HATE those smelly stores. They give me a headache just to walk by.

I do appreciate, however, that you put an air freshener in the guestroom with the kitty litter. I know I've never been a guest, but for all your guests: Thank you! We do appreciate it even if we don't know.

Oh, some air fresheners are just too strong if I plug them in. however, if they hang out, not plugged in, it is usually enough scent for me. (again, I don't like those things too strong. A home should not smell like spiced apples unless you have warm apple cider on your stove RIGHT NOW. If you want it to smell like flowers? Put fresh flowers in a vase. and ooh, pretty, you get instant decoration, too. If you want it to smell like fruit cocktail - well, I can't help you there. fruit cocktail really doesnt' smell strong enough to scent the house. :p)

Oh, I should also mention that when guests come over, we move the kitty litter out of the room they're staying in...

I don't think I've used air freshener before. My mom used to have a potpourri standing around a few times, but that's it.

Texas sounds wonderful! :)

You trip sounds very relaxing! :)

I wish I got free things all of the time. The air freshener is an odd one though.
