So, I think I've mentioned before how bad the old people's choir at club is, and about how I can no longer bring myself to sing with them...even at club-only (non-public) events. They're just too bad. I love my Oma and I know it makes her happy, but I just can't do it.
Anyway, last night was the first time Oma and Ota attended an CCC concert - I'm happy they came, and I think they enjoyed it. Also CCC virgins were a couple of other folks from the German club, who won a pair of tickets my mom and I donated for a raffle at a Kindergruppe event. Both these other folks and my grandparents sing in the choir at club together.
Well, according to Evi..."at the intermission of last evening's concert, Ota turned to [other folks from club] and said, 'they sure sing better than we do.' "
I laughed out loud. :-)

Your Ota is great. Why is it we're suddenly hearing about him now?
And, to be fair, I highly doubt there is ANY choir of old folks that sound good. They just must lose tone and rhythm with hearing and memory (hmm...I can totally see how that would go hand in hand)
He sounds like a really sweet guy. And at least he doesn't overestimate himself... :)
That's awesome. I love it!
You are only hearing about Ota now because he has gotten more...Otaish of late. As he ages, he seems to feel freer to give his opinion whenever and wherever.
He has also gotten much less patient - when previously you could go to the bathroom and found him gone when you were done, now it's also like you can blink and he'll be gone...except that he doesn't move quite that quickly. :-)
I do love the brutal honesty of older folks. :) They have such a way to be able to get by with it. I can't wait for that to be me. Well, I mean, I CAN wait, I don't want to get old quickly, but all the times we have to hold our tongues now, having to be PC or polite? When you're old you can just blurt it out and it's completely accepted. Fabulous. :)
You should make a book of Ota-isms. I bet it would be a best seller.
i want to pinch his cute grandpa cheeks!
