So, I think I've lost my battle to not get sick but am already recovering, which is good. I've come to the realization, however, that I'm even more sensitive to some things than I thought. Take Sudafed for example:
I know that if I take Sudafed for too many days in a row I get horribly dried out (and that's only taking 1 six hour pill a day) so this winter I decided that I could only take it every other day and have fortunately only needed it here and there anyway. Because I was getting more stuffed up, I actually did have to plan taking it this past week - I took it on Sunday because I had to cantor in church and had a 2 1/2 hour rehearsal for Holy Week in the evening, and then I took it on Tuesday because I had an audition. What's my body's response? I've been drinking between 5 & 6 quarts of water a day and still can't seem to get enough water! Average amount of water for me in the winter is 3 to 4 quarts a day. Yes, insane.
Other than that, I finally broke down and took a sick day yesterday. Whatever stuffiness was in my head decided to move into my chest and Wednesday was not pleasant. While staying home from work was certainly justifiable, I know it could've been worse by most people's standards. Plus, when part of your livelihood depends on being able to sing without hacking up a lung, extra care is warranted. It's amazing what an extra 4 hours of sleep, some Robitussin, and some tea will do for you.
This weekend the craziness starts, but I'm doing my best to stay as relaxed as possible (forgive me if I don't post a lot). Starting with this Sunday I will end up in church 5 times in 8 days (6 times if you count the rehearsal I've got). Fortunately I'll be able to pay the vet bills for Willie's dental work as a result!
Have a good weekend. :-)

Hang in there. Hope you feel better soon! Being sick SUCKS!
I am glad to hear you're getting better - and just in time for a very busy singing week! :)
How is your company's sick policy? My company's SUCKS, which is why earlier this year I went in to work with a fever, informed my boss I would not be making food as I couldn't eat and they shouldn't eat anything I prepared, and sat at my desk bundled up drinking fluids. But at least I didn't have to take a sick day (which is from the same allottment as vacation days, BUT our vacay are accrued and I didn't even have a full day to take by then and I would have had to take TIME WITHOUT PAY (but had it been a week later, able to take a sick day).
Previous places I worked: take as many days as you need. Please do not come to work sick and infect the office (LOVED that one. And most people didn't abuse it b/c we were so busy you didn't take a day off unless you really were sick). Or getting 3 sick occurances, whether is lasts 1 day or a week, it's just one occurance (I like that one, too).
Then the sick days separate from vacation days - I think that is pointless. People will take the days given to them, most likely in December for Christmas shopping. Or in July when they weren't approved for that vacation day? Sick day!
I hope you are feeling a little better again, since your week is going to be busy!
*hug* feel better!! make that husband of yours dote on you an extra amount!
I think you were right in taking the day off. You need to rest and stay healthy, this is a very big week for your throat/voice.
I hope you continue to feel better!
