Wednesday already

Just a quick apology for what I'm sure will be a lack of posting this month. I will try my best, but I don't want to spend much blogger time at work because of the new job, and non-work hours are pretty stuffed as well. Fortunately there are extra holiday gigs for both T and I, and it's always good to make some extra money doing what you love. :-)

Thanksgiving was nice, and was spent at my brother's again. The whole pot-luck thing is nice because no one has to worry about doing everything, but there are always a few items that I consider weird. Weird food for Thanksgiving, you ask? Here are a couple of examples: the homemade bread that Mark's uncle-in-law makes that looks very Italian, or the Italian green beans - these are apparently Thanksgiving traditions for that family, but they're German. I don't quite get it.

I think that the highlight of my Thanksgiving was that I played Guitar Hero for the first time (I thought of Lisa). I figured I would be pretty bad because I am a classically trained musician (you should hear me suck at karokee), and I was right. I think the problem for which I lost the most points, however, was that I kept forgetting to strum...duh. At least it made Kristin laugh.

Friday afternoon the Kindergruppe danced at a local Christkindl Market, and Saturday afternoon I sang a wedding. Saturday night was Rosenball, and a very dear friend of the family was crowned Rosenkoenigin - the family knew in advance that she was going to win the title, so they planned on hosting everyone for breakfast at club, rather than go out to a restaurant as many others choose to do. We stayed at club until about 1:30am, but the party was still kicking...too bad T was trying to prevent a full blown cold and I had to sing in church the next morning! Sunday afternoon I watched the Bears lose - horrible game, really.

I am excited about tonight because it's the second opera of the year in our subscription series - Trey isn't going because of a gig, so I'm taking a former co-worker to see Julio Caesere by Handel. I love baroque opera! Hopefully I'll have a review later this week. :-)

Happy Wednesday!

I thought the Bears beat Denver this week in OT (I was rooting against the Bears. Being a Packer fan and all) ;)
Happy Hump Day!!
Our "weird" Thanksgiving food is Cherry Pie...totally out of season, but made with frozen cherries picked the summer before. Yummy.
Last year it was weird that we had Cheese fondue - yea....bread, cheese, and broccoli for Thanksgiving. GREAT meal, not for Thanksgiving, in my opinion.

I stand corrected - the Bears did win. I guess most of the game was so horrible that I don't remember the end of it.

Also, I spelled Giulio Cesare wrong!

I can empathize. UK football lost this weekend. Not only did they lose, but they came from being way behind, to go into the 4th overtime, only to have their QB sacked on a 2 point conversion attempt. so frustrating.

Gee, you are a busy girl. I wouldn't know what would go with a thanksgiving dinner and what won't.
I just remembered, my new colleague is married to a woman whose maiden name was Rill. She is also a Donauschwabe. Isn't that strange?! Oh, I am hoping on going to the Schönbrunn Christkindlmarkt this weekend to hear the choirs sing!

Glad to hear that you are getting to do things you love (singing and club) instead of just being crazy busy with dumb stuff!

Next time we get together we have to play guitar hero. I almost fell on the floor laughing as I pictured you playing!

Heck yeah for playing Guitar Hero! I'm currently rocking out the Guitar Hero 3. It's super hard. But I LOVE it! I'm totally a rock star when I play it. :)

I am afraid of how bad I will be at Guitar Hero!
