Weekend...

I started a post as soon as I got in this morning, and now it’s almost 1pm. Go figure…

I figured working from home Friday would make the weekend seem longer? Nope. It was to busy that it flew by anyway.

Friday evening was spent at club, the site for Kristin’s shower (and reception in a couple of weeks), starting to get ready for the next day. We set up tables, vacuumed, chopped up veggies for salads, got the cheesy potato casseroles done and in the fridge – pretty much did as much as we could in advance.

Saturday I got to club shortly after nine and got right back to work. I did well finding jobs for other folks who were standing around wanting to help – I’m getting better at this delegating thing! Folks started arriving around 11am, and we served brunch at noon. Hooray to mom for making her incredible, but very time intensive, quiche – 10 of them to be exact. And double hooray that there was a leftover one for me to take home!

When it came to actually opening gifts, I swear that girl was on crack. I have never seen anyone go through stuff that quickly. I was trying to keep all of her gifts together and in some kind of order, and I finally gave up. Sam, the BM who was in charge of writing down who gave what gave up, too. It did end up being a good thing in that we got out of there a little sooner than planned (after people left we were done cleaning everything up by 4pm), and it was all very entertaining. *grin* Kudos to Allie for making the best looking rehearsal bouquet I’ve ever seen!

Saturday afternoon I coached Mark a little on the piece we’re singing for the wedding (All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera) and it was time to go back to club for a Sweet 16 party for a close family friend. I got home around 10:45pm and crashed!

Sunday morning I got up to cantor the 9am service at SH, then did 10:30 with the choir. I kicked so much butt on my post-communion solo (Panis Angelicus) that the music director asked me if I wanted to stick around for the noon service and do it again. Good thing I did because the noon cantor was m.i.a., something I do think is the music director’s fault as he made a typo on the schedule (had June 10 as June 18). After three services I started to feel like a priest though, and was glad to get out of there and get some lunch!

Final highlight of the weekend was an ‘02’ bottle of Riesling we opened last night. We were worried that it wouldn’t be good, and that it would be too sweet, but it was fantastic! It was tart with some nice peach aftertones, and could’ve been held on to for another couple of years in the right storage conditions. I guess if you get a good Reisling it really can hang on for a while!
