Here’s a start to what I’m sure will be a two-part post… I’ve got a few pics, but they’re on the camera at home, and since I didn’t get any at the actual wedding, all y’all will have to wait until the photographer’s uploaded all of his work.
Let’s start with the one not-so-good thing, which actually did start the weekend off. I’m on the train on Wednesday, sitting next to Godi, who’s become a great train buddy on the ride home a few times a week, and I get a call from Kristin – mom was in a car accident. Now, everything was Ok, but it was still one of those times that instant paranoia set in. Kristin called from the hospital to say mom was Ok, but I still had to see for myself…the last time someone had a car accident three days before a wedding was the day my father was killed. I got to the hospital and still had to wait a few minutes to see her because she was having a CAT scan, and was really relieved to walk into her area and hear the sounds of her joking around with the nurse.
She said the worst parts of the evening were that a) she made everyone worry about her, and b) that she hated having to sit there and do what everyone told her to do, which made me feel bad that I wouldn’t let her wear her real clothes back from the hospital, but that’s too bad (she was talking about how, during her ambulance ride to the hospital, she could feel glass in her underwear, so I didn’t want her putting her clothes back on).
So, Wednesday ended up being kind of a late night, but Thursday I was actually able to sleep in until just after seven. Thursday morning I went to club to help set up, and around 12:30 headed home to do a quick grocery shopping trip and power clean the place before the bachelorette party. Thursday night ended up being a lot of fun – we went to dinner at Photo’s, then went bowling, and everyone ended up at my place for games, drinks, and talking, before some went home and some slept over. I made Kristin wear a sash that said, “Bride to Be” and made her some cupcakes modeled after a certain part of the male anatomy, and found some great games: Pin the Macho on the Man, and a ring toss game that I think I’ll end up giving to one of my gay coworkers.
Kristin’s most entertaining gift: a blow job kit consisting of oven mitts, an apron, a hairnet, and something else. I think the hairnet was the funniest part of that.
Friday morning I got my house back in order before going back to club. After that we went to my mom’s for a quick lunch, and to give my mom her favors from the party the night before. She tried to act shocked, but really laughed harder than anything else. Godi got a kick out of it, too. Favor bags, by the way, consisted of a sample of Pjur Venus, a latex lollipop (some got a _____ doodle pad instead), a “great head” candy, a lollipop shaped like a part of the male anatomy, and some dark chocolate.
A shout goes out to Trey who allowed me to host the ladies at our place, and who hasn’t given me a hard time about the few cupcakes still in the fridge.
More later!
