Where to start with this one? I almost can’t believe I’ve not blogged since a week ago – doesn’t feel that long, though, because I saw the girls this weekend. Good part is, no one can give me a hard time because I flew out to see you all this weekend. *grin*
So, big highlights I guess are just that things have been a little busy, but they’ve been a lot of fun. First fun piece of news is that I found a group to sing with this summer. It’s not as good as the CCC, but the folks are really fun. Rehearsals are very fast-paced as well, so even though the music isn’t really all that challenging I’m not getting bored, and if I do get bored, I can always sit in rehearsal and learn all of the other parts! From what I’ve been told, this summer’s concert’s music is easier because they just got off of some really hard stuff, but we’ll see how things go after the summer.
This whole thing sort of come about because I went to the Bottle Band concert earlier this month. See, my voice teacher from high school is one of the founding members of the Bottle Band, and is also the president of this group, the Park Ridge Chorale. The summer after high school she always invited her graduating students to join for the summer, and return during subsequent summers, so I did actually sing with them during the summer of 97. I’d tried to e-mail her to say hi a few months ago, but I think she must’ve seen my name and deleted it as junk because the last name wasn’t Rill, so running into her at the concert sort of opened up that door. I e-mailed her the next week, and went to rehearsal the following Monday. This again is not a paid thing, but I’m thinking it may lead to other opportunities at some point. I’ve already gotten a great compliment, too…
See, this group tends to do lighter music, and will usually incorporate solo, duet, and small ensemble numbers in between the choral numbers – in 97 I did “Wheels of a Dream” with my then voice teachers son, and I think it brought the house down at the concert. Well, last night she asked me if I’d be interested in doing a duet for this next concert. I said yes and she’s bringing me the music next week – I just think it’s really cool that my former teacher thinks I’d be a good person to sing something with. :-)
That’s probably good for now. Karen already did a great weekend update – the only thing I have to add is that I really appreciated Jim’s allowing me to practice in their basement (I think he’s used to the Taebo in the living room by now)! Thanks guys for letting me crash with you for the weekend! To everyone else, I promise to be a better blogger this week and going forward!

Sounds like you are set for the summer. Hopefully a paying gig will pop up from this new group!

Hooray for hooking up some summer fun singing. It was wonderful to see you this weekend and I'm so happy that we were able to get the "crew" together again for fun. :-)
