Lots of exciting stuff this weekend!
Friday night's concert was incredible - musically it went pretty well (I fell in a hole at the beginning of the concert *smack!* and a few random things happened to others at different points), but even more exciting was the size of the crowd. We easily had 350-400 people there, which I'm sure is the biggest CCC crowd to date (for one of our Christmas concerts we had over 200, which at that time was the new record). This was due, I'm sure, to the Tribune review, as well as a great review one of the WFMT djs gave us that week. Hooray!
Saturday morning we got to sleep in. Hooray! After that we spent the day running errands and getting ready to have some friends over for dinner. A good time was had by all with a few different wines opened, and some grilling going on.
Sunday was a little long, but still a good time. After church in the morning I headed to club for the Jugendgruppe's Easter Bunny Brunch - they do a brunch every year on Palm Sunday, but this year one of the kids dressed up as the Easter Bunny so little kids could get their pictures taken - too bad I didn't have a camera! After that it was back to church for Easter rehearsal, and then back home to take advantage of some Viki time before Trey got back from a concert in Milwaukee. We finished off a weekend with a nice night at home together.
Little gripe - I decided to use my free time to go to the workout room and was going to hop on an elliptical machine, only there was this guy on one of the ellipticals who smelled really bad, like I couldn't breathe standing next to the guy. Using another elliptical would've probably meant I'd suffocate, so I had got on the treadmill that was the farthest away from him and it was bearable. Seriously, though, I don't know how someone could smell that bad and not realize it.
Perhaps the most exciting news, however, is that we're probably going to end up being homeowners very soon. We found out Saturday afternoon that our apartment complex is going condo, and since we're current tenants we're getting first dibs at what looks like a much lower rate than the unit would go for otherwise. I quite seriously thought we'd not be able to own anything within the next 3-5 years unless we decided to live in a trailer - yes there are no down payment loans, but with the high cost of housing here combined with mortgage insurance on that option and higher interest rates on the 20% of the second loan would still not make it affordable (all of the new construction condos in our area are going for 300-500K for less than 2,000 square feet if that gives you any idea of how things are around here). Anyway, we're really excited!
So, that's the weekend news - happy Monday everyone!

ohhhhh - homeowners!! didn't you say that was on your goal list and a milestone for "making it"? HOORAY for sooner rather than later and for good deals!
Congrats on the homeownership er whatever! That's very exciting news! And I'm glad your concert was so successful! I can't wait til I get to venture out to Chicago one of these days and see the show!
Yay for smelly people!
err, no. YAY for homeownership and fabulous concerts. BOO for smelly people (perhaps he doesn't have a sense of smell? Or maybe he just doesn't care. They say you can't really smell yourself, however, one would think when you're THAT stinky....or maybe he doesn't realize it's as bad as it is. WHY am I sticking up for Smelly Man?)
Congrats for the great concert. Keep it up and sooner or later you'll go on tour and come to Vienna and I can hear you too! (this is me in a very optimistic mode...)
We have smelly people too. But not only the smelly ones are annoying: Today one guy thought he could "reserve" one of the cardio machines by tying a tissue around it while he was getting changed. Ha! No way, old sweaty man!
How funny.... homeownership... did Karen start this recent trend or what? Too funny. That is pretty cool that they make the first offer to you guys and even better at a lower rate. :-) Good luck!
That is very exciting news about your concert. It probably was because of the fantastic review. :-)
I often wonder how smelly people can not be offensive to themselves. I'm extremely aware of my own scent, but maybe that's just me!
Congrats on the concert and the ownership news, that's great!
