Ah, Friday....

So, I tried to write yesterday, but got not very far into a post despite working on it on and off for four hours. This week has been a little nuts, both at work and at home. I really hate not writing, not only because my faithful readers are probably out there wondering where I am, but also because I get so behind on everyone else’s blogs!

Last weekend went by far too quickly, and after it was over, I found myself as the new assistant leader for the Kindergruppe. I will probably start in August, unless they tell me to start sooner. I think the highlight of the weekend, however, is that Trey and I got to cook dinner together twice!

This week has been fun, with Mom’s birthday Monday and my brother Mark’s yesterday. Kristin’s been in town, so we went to pick up her wedding dress Tuesday night – she made me bring my dress along so we could take pictures together - and went looking for jewelry for the bridesmaids. Wednesday I got to work from home because of a doc’s appointment in the morning and having to get my car fixed, which was great until the internet in our house went out around 1pm. Worked out though because the car dealer called right after the ‘net went down to say my car was ready. I had plenty of time to visit mom at work, bringing her a late birthday treat, and then do a long yoga session before we got reconnected.

Wednesday night Trey and I were going to have the whole night together, but then he got a surprise call from his favorite airman, who had a layover of about three hours at O’Hare. Welcome back to the country Armand!

Yesterday I had fun when Elizabeth O from Milwaukee was visiting the Chicago Cultural Center for some kind of German rap workshop – Elizabeth is a junior in high school, and someone I’ve felt sort of like an unofficial big sister to ever since my days in Milwaukee in the Jugendgruppe up there. It was sort of a random meeting – I only saw her for about 25 minutes on her walk from the Cultural Center to Union Station, but it was a really nice visit. It’s really amazing to see the transformation of a girl from that young awkward stage to a beautiful, confident young woman.

That’s the life update, and here’s something weird before I stop writing – as I’ve mentioned, life is getting pretty busy, and will stay that way through the spring. Easter weekend will be especially nuts because of so much church – in one week I’ll do Palm Sunday mass, a rehearsal that afternoon, Wednesday rehearsal, Thursday night mass, Friday afternoon mass, Easter Vigil on Saturday, and mass on Sunday morning. Well, although I only have this one church gig, I keep having nightmares that I’ve double booked myself for Good Friday and that I’m going to be on my way to one church and realizing that I’m also supposed to be somewhere else. I have to keep smacking myself to keep from getting nervous about it.

That’ll be it for now – happy St. Patrick’s day to everyone tomorrow! I’ve been drinking Irish Cream flavored coffee for the past two days not realizing the occasion. I’ll write more this weekend, and will have an IUD update for anyone who’s interested…

PS – I love Tom’s fortune cookie idea…
