I’m sorry, but I’m just going to have to brag about what a fantastic weekend we had this time around. Goodness knows there have been plenty in the past few months that have been super busy and have gone by far too quickly…
Friday night we had dinner at Oma’s house (see Trey’s post from Friday morning for a funny about Oma’s) to celebrate the February birthdays – Oma on the 3rd, Kristin on the 6th, Nicky on the 9th, and me on the 18th. Oma was in rare form by the time we left, which had me laughing to hard I was crying. You know how grandmothers get – they have all kinds of stuff in their houses and went to give it away, well, it just didn’t stop. I wish I would’ve had a vido camera. Anyway, it was great to have dinner at Omas with Trey, and to be able to drive there in one car, and spend the whole evening with everyone!
Saturday I went shopping with Kristin and Sam, looking for shoes to match bridesmaids’ dresses. We had some luck, but I think I’m going to do a little bit of online digging before going back this weekend to buy shoes for all of the girls. In the afternoon I got in some practice time before Trey and I went ands spent the entire evening somewhere in order to make a large purchase form him – see his blog tonight or tomorrow morning for more information. We got home after 9, and had some nice leftovers from Oma’s for dinner. Yum!
Sunday morning I did my church gig, getting a couple of birthday phone calls on the way there. When I got home Trey made me breakfast – French toast with strawberries & bananas, and hashbrowns – and gave me the gift he’s been super excited to give me for weeks (he keeps talking about it). I got a 3-month subscription to the Cheese of the Month Club. How cool is that? I freaked out, it was so cool. :-)
The afternoon was spent brushing my boys – each got a very long turn as we haven’t had a chance to sit with them since before vacation – going to the library to find some recordings, and going to pick up beer to go with dinner (note, while I thought that a Hefeweiss would go with sushi, it wasn’t the best pairing – both entities were very tasty though). We played a little catch up with TV shows we’d missed before heading out for my sushi birthday dinner, which we brought home because I wanted to eat it sitting on my couch. Hooray for sushi(!) which I haven’t had in forever and was really looking forward to (by the way mom, that Fish One place is fantastic!!!). After that it was relaxing before going to be early. What a wonderful day, and I think my favorite part was that Trey and I got to spend the whole weekend together, something that hasn’t happened (except on vacation, which really doesn’t count) since before we moved back here.
Anyway, now it’s Monday and back to work, but I’m looking forward to spending the evening with my husband tonight before the week starts going nuts again…Happy Monday all!
PS - I tried to post some pictures yesterday but blogger was being stupid, so it'll have to wait...

Happy Birthday Belated!
Happy Birthday!!!
Sounds like a great weekend to me. I especially like the food. The gift is great, the breakfast sounds great and the dinner sounds great!!
Happy Birthday from my end of the ocean!! Oh, I so love sushi. Although I would've never dreamt of drinking beer with it... Now I feel like I have to try it. ;)
Happy Belated Birthday!
Beer with Sushi was good, but I think a crisp, dry white can be better.
Katrin, what do you drink with sushi? Perhaps Grüner Veltliner?
