Was that Barack Obama?

So, here’s something that caught me a little off guard - last night I was walking to the train station and I think I saw Barack Obama. I was on Jackson, in between Dearborn and Clark, right around where there are a couple of federal buildings. Only thing is, he was walking with and talking to just one other guy. I figure that Barack Obama is probably famous enough at this point that he’d have to travel with some kind of entourage…but I swear this had to be him. Let me know what you guys think. For all I know the Senate is still in session, which means he was in Washington anyway and I’m just on crack.

Anyway, it turns out that I’m going to be doing 10 of the 14 caroling gigs – this will actually make for a much more relaxed Christmas Eve. Had I taken the two gigs that day, I would have been cutting it really close after church, and church that morning is already a pretty big deal for me – the choir is off and I’m doing the “Rejoice greatly O daughter of Zion” among other things…really, really hard piece for those of you who aren’t familiar with it. I also found out last week that I will be cantoring both midnight mass and noon mass on Christmas day. How crazy is that? I guess this guy figures I really know what I’m doing if he’s having me do that much singing. That just means I don’t get to do much talking next weekend until I’m done singing. I’m still thrilled though.

I think that’ll be all for now – tonight’s rehearsal as usual, and this Sunday and Monday are our concerts. Looks like Sunday will be a sell-out!

The Senate was suppose to adjourn on October 6th according to their website (http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/two_column_table/2006_Schedule.htm). So, it is very possible that it was him. There are still a lot of people who don't recognize him, but those who follow politics would. :-) Cool for you if you saw him.

Good luck on your concert and all the gigs you are doing. You really should do a Christmas CD!

I'm not sure I would recognize him if I saw him on the street, but I would definately think he would have more protection than just one guy!!

All of your singing gigs sound like fun! I love "Rejoice greatly O daughter of Zion"!!!!!!

The Senate recessed from the lame duck session earlier in the week, so it is possible. Holly will be glad to know that I knew this (not really).

I'm not gonna lie, I had no idea who that guy even was until I got to the end of that paragraph. Although I guess I'm the perfect example of how to use context clues...I should mention that one to my kids! I'm such a dork!

i agree with sarah... for a potential presidential elect i'd think he'd have groupies at this point if nothing else.

yeah... don't see much of that here...

He's a powerful democrat from Chicago - of course he would have an entourage.

How is it that Karen knows who he is if he's a Democrat? She's a Reoublican!!!!!

Probably because everyone in the news media is swooning over him like schoolgirls.
