I wanted to post something in response to all of you who responded to my "Protest" post, but ran out of time to do so. Yesterday was busy at work, and I was tired, and I had a concert last night, so what can you do? Here's what's been going on for the past couple of days...
Thursday night we had a great rehearsal. Timm, our director, was very hyper and everyone was pretty happy. Rehearsal went well and I got back to the Metra station earlier than normal, which really only meant I had longer to sit around before my train, but oh, well. I was so wiped that I actually fell asleep for part of the ride home. Fortunately I woke up before my stop, which is more than I can say for some other people (just before my stop the conductor come on the intercom and said, "Please do not miss your stop. We cannot do a U-turn.").
I got home at 11:40pm exhausted, and apparently starving because when I woke up on Friday I found the ice cream carton that had been in the freezer, in the garbage can. I didn't feel too bad because I knew there hadn't been much in there, but I was concerned because I didn't remember eating it. This only happens once or twice a year, and has never happened when I've gone to bed sober. I wonder if I need to put a padlock on the freezer.
Friday I took the later of my two normal trains to work, and the conductor, who likes to give us trivia from time to time, announced that it was the anniversary of the first airing of Sesame Street. Later on at work, one of our high school interns comes in with a Cookie Moster scrunchie in her hair. :-)
Getting to the concert Friday sucked - it had gotten cold, windy, and rainy, resulting in the loss of another umbrella (my 3rd since April). The concert itself was great, except for the opening of the second half. All of a sudden the choir seemed to have this collective "Oh, shit" feeling and staying together for the rest of the piece was a little scarey, although all of the parts were there and accurate. Turns out the organist turned two pages and took half the piece to get back with us. Afterwards he kept saying that he was never playing the organ again, and we all tried to reassure him. Honestly, knowing that such a great musician made that huge of a mistake in a performance is actually kind of cool. Anyway, we're doing it again Sunday afternoon, so more about it then.
Today has been glorious. Trey left for work around 7:30, and I couldn't sleep past 7 despite still being tired. I got up, sat at the computer, and generally putzed around for while. Around 10 I decided that I really needed to get to work, but I was still exhausted, so I went back to bed and slept until noon. Ahhh!!! I got back up, and got into high powered cleaning mode, and now my bathrooms are sparkling, my bed is made with clean sheet, the laundry is almost done, and the kitchen is almost clean. I have been wanting to spend a day cleaning the apartment for months. It's not that we never clean, but when you're never home even maintaining can be hard. Next Saturday will also be a free day for me, so I can finish up the big cleaning then and it will actually be nice in here for a little while!
Ok, enough for now - hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Hooray for big cleaning weekends. I'm hopefully going to do a quick tornado spinclean here when I'm done catching up on blogs. :-D
I hate cleaning. I avoid it at all costs. My house just "looks" clean to other people. I haven't dusted in over a year. Yes, I said it, over a year.
I seem to go in spurts, where I'll let things go for a bit, and then clean like crazy, and I'm always so excited when it's done.
And, I must say I burst out laughing when I read the part about the announcement on the train!!
ok, i'm not a chicagoan so i can say things like this and look only half as stupid...
around here in cincy we have the "Metro" which is our bus system. I think it's fun when vik refers to her "Metra" because i know what she's talking about but i my first thought is to just assume she's putting a cute German twist on Metro like she does with bier.
